    I am currently selling off a big part of my collection to fund my highest end purchase to date. I'll be spending $600 or less. Now I am torn between a custom folder and a good single action otf. On the custom route I'm looking primarily at the Breaker by Brian Tighe (liner lock with sculpted carbon fiber) and a couple Elishewitz models. For an otf I'm really only familiar with the MT Halo and Nemesis. I really want a Nemesis but fat chance at finding one in my price range. I like the Halo but it seems a little too large.

    So what I really want to know is what else is out there in my price range?

    Why not go for a Halo III or II, you could score one in your price range or less. I have been seeing them around, you gotta be quick though they sell fast.

    Yea, there's a dealer that goes to my local gunshows that has a few. They just seem a little big and bulky to me. I really like how trim the Nemesis is but again, outside my price range. Just looking to see if there's anything I'm overlooking.

    Ever look at the protech dark angel? Little more classy,ess tactical design, I think, than the MT's. Pretty knife if nothin else.

    Not really a knife guy however I have a ProTech Dark Angel, my only OTF auto. I bought it based on fully satisfactory experience their TR3 and Runt. It has not disappointed. Here's a picture;

    I only own one MT however have been put off by anecdotal chit-chat about their marginal CS.

    Best.

    I've thought about the Dark Angel but I'm looking to get into something a little higher end. The Halo is right at the price point I'm hovering around. Guess I'll have to take a second look at it.

    You might want to look at the new OTF with charging handle from ARS knives. Alex has about got the first batch ready to go. It's along the lines of a HALO, and the prototypes I've played with are really nice. I think he has some video's up on youtube of the proto stuff.

    I never really cared for the new Halo Vs the older smaller designs were just fine. The Halo III is long for sure, It's roughly about the same size of a combat troodon maybe a hair longer. However they are very light with a slim profile and excellent lockup. Best thing about them is due to the collectibility of the early Halos is you can recoup most if not all of your cash pretty quick if you decide you don't like it.

    Every thread I've ever read which asks for recommendations has basically said that Microtech make the best OTFs. I think the HALO and the Scarab are the best you're going to get. I think the Scarab is more practical because it comes with a clip. The HALO does have a certain appeal to it though, especially if you're a Jack Bauer fan.

    Are you going to carry the halo if you get it or is it going to be a safe queen? I personally wouldn't carry a halo they seem to big. You know I'm a Microtech fan but I would stick to the custom I think you would use it more than a single action OTF . Thats my view buy the one you will use more. Let us know what you decide to get either way sounds like you have an awesome knife coming your way soon.

    Whatever I get will probably be carried more than used, custom or auto. There's a big gun show here in a couple of weeks and. There's a couple of dealers who usually have a good spread of customs so I'll be cruising that and hunting the for sale forums in the meantime. Might order something after that if I can't find anything. Either way I'll post back and let you guys know.

    Ok, I found something that tickled my fancy a little too hard. And it came in under budget so if I raise a little more money I could possibly still get a Halo or something. Pics in this thread

    I have one of the original ARS OTF prototype knives with the charging bar on the side that will get in the way when you fire it, so this is a much better design with the charging bar out the back. They are very well made knives and I would not hesitate to buy another one.

    For me or for you? For me, Halo. I'm really digging the SA's right now for some reason. Big gun show this weekend and I'm going to try to come home with one. Trading a bunch of stuff off.
