    What would be a better edc a folder like a buck 110, or a small fixed blade like the kabar eskebar

    I carry a Benchmade folder as my EDC, but occasionally I carry my BK14 Eskabar. I like using the BK14 more, but the folder is easier to carry.

    Depends on where you go and what you do. Fixed blade isn't as convenient if it is worn concealed.

    The buck is a classic , there are many factors. One is I dont like carrying that 110 in my pocket its just to heavy. so that makes it a sheath on the belt knife ,depending on what your job is that may or may not work for you. Maybe you already have 3 or 4 or 5 things on your belt. I have to carry a flashlight , radio , sog multitool , so the extra weight of the 110 is not welcome though I could manage it if I so choose. There are to many other options to consider though. My edc is a spyderco endura 4 , its light weight , strong , the edge holds up extremely well , it has a low profile in your pocket. The smaller fixed blades work well also , many you can just slide down in your pocket and no one would know. I would take the kabar over the buck if that were the only choices.

    I like the way you think! Personally I've been carrying small fixed blades more and more often

    If you're needing hard use with no need to conceal, fixed blade is best. But, if you would prefer concealing with lighter use, a folder could be the more comfortable choice.

    Ditto on that.

    I carry a small fixed blade on my belt daily, something in the 3" to 4" range;

    ...it has made carrying folders pretty much a moot point.

    I like the Cabela's Alaskan 110. It has a beautifully coated S30V blade with rosewood handles.

    Buck claims the premium S30V steel will cut 150 percent better than the 420HC used in the standard 110s. You might also check out the Cold Steel Voyagers, which are probably the strongest folders around.

    Both is the correct answer. I have been carrying a folder and fixed blade on and off for quite some time now. I'm torn between getting a Izula or BK11/ BK14....

    ZT0560, Victoinox Farmer and an ESEE Izula. My current EDC. The Izula and Farmer hasn't changed in a long time. The ZT0560 will likely not be replaced anytime soon either.
