Well i tried to put pictures, with no luck for now. His/her mark is jsm (lower case just like that) if that helps any. Sorry. But we do have some very savy Columbo's type people on this forum and they don't need much info. Anyway have a safe and great Sunday, where ever you are.

You might want to have this moved to Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification Forum. Nothing wrong with posting it here, but the guys in the BRL forum are crazy knowledgeable about this kind of stuff. You're more likely to get an answer.

It looks like you are trying to post a picture straight from your hard drive. That wont work, you need to upload the picture to the internet first. I like to host my pictures at photobucket.com ,its free. Sounds like a neat knife, hope you figure it out.

They know it's O1 but not the maker? How? It would take a pretty significant expert or some high-tech equipment to determine that supposed fact.

THIS IS A VINTAGE INUIT HANDMADE CUSTOM HUNTING KNIFE PROBABLY CREATED FOR SKINNING. THIS KNIFE WAS MADE AND BOUGHT IN ALASKA IN THE EARLY 1960s. THE MAKERS MARK IS ON THE BASE OF THE BLADE . IT IS MARKED JSM AS SHOWN IN PHOTO. THE WHALE TOOTH HANDLE IS FROM A SPERM WHALE AND IS OVER 100 YEARS OLD AND IS VALUABLE JUST FOR THAT REASON. I DO NOT KNOW WHO THE MAKER WAS , JUST HIS MARK.

    Another (2 pics)
Up for your consideration one previously enjoyed Custom Knife Description: Up for auction today is this one of a kind custom knife with an ivory tooth handle, brass guard, and stainless steel blade. This knife has a total body length of 7" with a blade length of 3". The handle is Orca Whale ivory with a lovely warm yellow color with dark brown coloration. The handle is an ivory tooth with brass spacer and another piece of ivory in a different hue of yellow for nice variation. The guard is brass and the blade is stainless steel. Stamped in the blade is: jsm

    ??? Advice on a forum:
At the knife show this april in eugene go to Jeff Murrison's booth (JSM Knifes). These are some of the best knifes I've seen and his demascus ...

    Thank you Thomas,
The guy said it might O1 but i could tell he wasn't sure. One thing i do know was it is well made and kept, so i bought it. I really would like to thank you for taking the time to put the picture up and comment. One thing i do notice is it is definitely the same mark and they are both closer to the spine of the knife instead of the middle (if that means anything).
    Thanks again

Cross posts. Maybe that is the guy.

Oh, the fact that some eBayer says it's SS is neither here nor there. It could still be non-SS and just kept up.

    And "JSM Knives" led nowhere.

Ask this Blade forums member Brian Ayres who posted http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...-s-Going/page2

SOOOOO inspirational. I was there from 12-5 on Saturday, and didn't have time to talk to everyone I wanted to and I literally didn't even pause at any of the collectors tables, eat(thank god for the people with bowls of candy on their tables). Next year I'll go for the weekend.
