I was gifted with a Filipino Sword and scabbard. The scabbard is wood and engraved with "SAMAR (this is a guess . . "FAILLTPENE . . " and either "1883" or "1803".
As far as I know my family came from Lambac Cardona Rizal and there is no family connectionwith the Samar region.
What I am interested in is finding an authority who can 1) Decipher and translate what is written on the scabbard? and 2) What is range of value for the sword and scabbard?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You,

Howdy and Welcome to BladeForums!
There are many forums here. One of them is the Bernard Levine Knife Collecting and Identification forum. I'm going to move your post there. The folks will need pictures to help you. To post pictures, upload them to a free hosting service such as photobucket. Most such such sites provide IMG codes. Post the IMG code in your post and you got it. If they don't offer IMG codes, wrap the web address like so, in your post and you still got it.
Farkel. double post.
