Certainly high in the "cool" factor. I'd think "Puma" before "Randall". Not suggesting it originated at either; just my impression.
OK so first thread post... pardon my crappy photos im still working on such things... so i have here a really cool but completely flumoxing knife.. its a rather large fighter bowie style with epoxy filled cactus handle and finger grooves, the blade is definately hand made but high grade, think randall, hand made but crisp and not amature, the grind is randall esque but the profile is slightly puma inspired, its quarter inch carbon steel thats been nickled or chromed (staining shows through in spider marks here and there) the blade tapers expertly down to aboyt 1/8 inch by the peak of the false edge, now ive been collecting knives for 10 years now mostly combat and fighters from ww2 to vietnam with a soft spot for plexi handled theater knives, but i bought this on whim because i liked it and i was intrigued asto its origins... my question is if anyone has seen anything similar or recognises the blade from something else??? no marks of any kind and the sheath would fit but the mouth isnt quite big enough for the guard to slip into...... ill be posting a few other small conundrum knives from my collection soon as well, keep an eye out

There was a guy from Lewisville, TX that did that kind of work but I believe he marked his knives. Mickey Kaehr, Blue Mesa Blades, www.bluemesablades.com. Perhaps he may know.
That is Cholla cactus for those who do not know.
cool ill pick some brains out yonder, itd definately a gorgeous, solid knife, might put it on instead of my randalls from time to time lol
And yes it definitely has a sort of puma growth in the false edge, certainly wasn't made by randall or puma, but whoever made it had a close look at both at some point
It looks to me like a Randall No. 1 that has had the tip broken off, and has been re-shaped and re-handled. If so, the front end may be a bit thick but the knife should be a good user, though not as good for _stabbing_ as the original.

the price was definately "user" friendly, would have been a randall 1-9 ish size if its been reworked, the current blade is 7 7/8 inch long
One of the annual knife magazines years ago had an article, with pics, about making a handle of Cholla cactus. I saw a number show up for several years thereafter.
