Here is a piece i picked up to use, appears to be a SOG seal pup, early style, construction is spot on every detail is right materiels, shape, size, quality, build etc.. except one thing.... doesnt say SOG anywhere not even cast in the rubber.... only mark is shown in picture... yes the shape is a little off because the last 1/8 inch got sacrificed as a pry bar (not my doing) then was ground down, and as such i got it for less than a happy meal, i collect ww2 ish knives and thusly my modern knowlege is lacking, dont know if maybe this is a "sterile" version or possibly a realllly good knock off so i figured id see what you all think

I do not recall SOG making this model out of 420 steel, with those serrations, with that blade shape, or with that handle. I do not believe that it is, in fact, a SOG product.

my photos arent the best but it is spot on exactly like the bottom one in the link you sent.. and if i remember right (maybe not) Aus 6 is infact 420 stainless... trust me it looks bad in the picture but holding my pup i bought new next to it i cant see any differences at all except the markings.. even the distance before serrations and blade thickness are identicle.. the broken bit makes it look a bit silly though lol

If its spot on, then it is marked SOG on the grip and the ricasso.

But it's not. Don't look with your hopeful heart.

And AUS 6 is not 420. It is close to 440A.

lol.. not trying to convince myself... i got it as a knock off just as a rope and box cutter for work... im just taken aback at how similar it is.. couldent find any bud-k specials that were pup knock offs so i brought it up here.. my knowledge of sog is lacking so i didnt know if there was a version that was unmarked or if anyone knew of a well made off brand... like i said its broken and for work lol, no scagel bought at a barn sale here.... just curious as to who made it even if its not sog

Some of these knock-offs are pretty good. Sanrenmu has made a business of making pretty good knock-off that, even with everybody knowing, have quite a following. So just because it's a knock-off, it doesn't have to be badly made. Time I suppose will tell.

It's a copy, for a while there in the late 90's, there were great copies of the SOG line being put out. Companies like Coast Cutlery had them and they sold around 40% of what the actual SOG knives did.

    Counterfeit crapola.

At one point, my life was meaningless. Hobos spit on me and little children would run up and punch me in the groin.

cool... i had figured it to be a fakey, but ya know what it will work just as well as the real deal for my purposes, I have a real Seal Pup i just keep it with my camping gear with my bug out bag next to a randall #16... having a pup already is why i decided to snag this one for about the price of a big mac, i love the feel and shape/function of the pup but never wanted to abuse it at work (i build sets for Opera! lol)... the broken tip wont be the worst this goes through... cutting tin, prying wood staples and coffin lock joints, scraping paint, cutting tie line, cardboard, fiberglass, muslin, plexiglass, rubber, tape etc etc.... so far so good, but ive only had it a few weeks..
