Looks like a keeper. How diffrent is the 12 from the 7? thanks
I got this 12 last winter I guess but haven't really used it much. Figured I'd better put it through some paces, ya know, make sure it's ok and all.
Factory edge
Took a piece of seasoned red oak about 4" and decided to chop it in two
It wasn't easy but it got it done. It'll chop if you need it to.
I'm very bad at chopping with knives... I have very poor accuracy. That's why I like the machax so much. Chopping with the "axe" part of the BK 4 gives me much better accuracy.
Batonned some of the same wood
I thought it did fine with that.
Just playing
I did do a very simple chopping comparison between the two
No suprise there.
Edge did fine
I picked up a spec ops sheath last fall and it is a good fit for the 12
Took a pic for K9!
And a little group shot
Thanks for looking!

Hey Bp, I'm probably not the best person to answer that as I don't have a lot of time in with either blade but check out the database sticky at the top of this forum for all kinds of info on the blades....
I have both the 12 and the 7... it's hard to pick a favorite. They are both excellent and fill basically the same roll... although they are different...
The BK12 was probably my favorite Becker... I recently got the 7... and now I'm not sure... the 7 is really giving ti a run for it's money.
Love the 12 though and glad to see it getting some love here.![]()

There's never been that much going on with the 12 around here, it's a great knife though.
It is good to see a thread on the 12 again. Been awhile.
I would like to see what a de-ramped 12 feels like. Guess I might just have to get my own soon and do a little grinding.
Eero... here's a mock up I did a while back. Mine still has the ramp though...

It's interesting seeing that 12 next to the 2. I never noticed how centered the tip on the BK12 was. Must be good at drilling. I think it looks great without a ramp but that's just my personal preference and it's mostly based on my BK9 which not only looks better de-ramped but more importantly feels better in my hand and after prolonged use my thumb no longer gets worn out. Thanks for re-posting that. Now I'm kind of wanting to buy a 12....
Yeah, the 12's a spearpoint if ever there was one. Looks good with that sheath package.
I can't warm up to the shape for some reason. The 6-7" size is awkward to me.
Also, it's hard to see past that 10.![]()

Hey guys I started looking for 12's because they're a really nice knife, all I can find is a couple websites that have them to pre-order. Anyone got any leads on where I could pick one up?
Thanks bk, that's what I figured. I'm hoping one turns up, would really like to add the 12 to my collection.
I I remember correctly, Doug Ritter was on the forums here not too long ago and said that the BK12 is currently backordered, but they are expected a new batch soon.
Yes, looks like you can preorder for the next run, which they hope to be by the end of the year.
Love, Love, LOVE my 12. It does a little bit of everything, and looks good doin' it
