    New knife for buddy.

A guy I work with is looking for a new EDC knife. He was wanting something similar I size to a Manix 2, para military 2 etc. At least a 3" blade, under 4oz. Must be FFG. Vg10, D2, 1095 or S30v preferred somewhat heavy duty..something that can take more abuse than his delica 4.

He wanted the Manix 2 but does not want the translucent blue...none of the others are FFG, then we decided on a PARA military 2...out of stock. He wants a spyderco but is open to other suggestions. Price range is 80-120$ish There's got to be something out there we are looking over

    Info is much appreciated

You could support the forum and get an ffg s30v blue skyline!

Another option would be an rat-1 or anything from the spyderco sage line.

These options would hold up well as an edc!

im sure you could find a para 2 somewhere. that probably the best choice for strong lock up and awesome cutting ability. and s30v hold a real nice edge.

I have a tenacious that I keep in my car in case I'm ever without. He likes it Alrite but wants something a bit nicer, not stamped china.

Slightly off-topic but, if people threw out everything they owned that was made in China (or Pakistan, Haiti, Indonesia, Taiwan, etc) their house would likely be mostly empty. I wonder how many people know where the tires on their car or their brake pads were made?

While I like to support American companies that sell products made by American workers, I don't turn my nose up at stuff made in China. Sometimes a working man looking to stretch a dollar can get a good deal from stuff made in China.

True. I like my tenacious. For the 25$ I gave for it...it's fine. He's not exactly looking for a deal. He is looking for a high quality blade. And he's not looking for 8cr13mov steel either.

Take a look at the Spyderco Native 5. It has S35VN steel. It is sold out in some places like the Para 2, however.
