Custom SOG Bowie Damascus

My local knife emporium just got one in. And they let me hold it!!! What a knife. And heavy as well. Sharp as a razor (in fact, might be sharper). Beautiful blade-just a work of art. In fact, I doubt that whoever buys this one will probably not ever use it. Just display it and admire. $1800 bucks is a lot for a knife to be sure. But what a piece of art. A question about the knife. It appears to be constructed of three layers. A core of undetermined steel with the damascus on both sides. Does anyone know for certain if this is true? And if so, what type of steel is the core. BTW: Me and my SOGs are off to Texas on Monday. Taking the Powerlock, the Trident, and one of the Flash II. Should be back in two to three weeks depending on how much work we have. Only down side is I will probably be spending my 63rd birthday eating MREs. The kids have told me that they will have a belated birthday party for me when I get back. I sure hope they get me another SOG for my birthday. I really would like an X-Ray Vision this year. Would make a great BD gift. Oh well, at least I can hope. I certainly have given them enough hints.

These hurricanes sure have you busy, thankfully this last one wasn't as bad as katrina. Sounds like your really addicted to SOGs, maybe your family will catch on to your "hints" and have a nice SOG waiting for your return. About the damascus, here is a past thread that has some good info and links.

Thanks for the info and good wishes.

Looks like I will be leaving Monday headed for Dallas/Fort Worth. From there I will either go to the Beaumont area or possibly Gulfport. Probably for at least two weeks, possibly three. Since my background is in Logistics, probably be a pretty busy time for me. Primarily locating supplies needed for the residents as they begin to return and making sure that they arrive at where they are needed. So guys, have fun with your SOGs, and keep a light on for me. See you in a couple of weeks or so.

Be Safe !!

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. amazingly enough, the hotel I'm staying at is right next to the FEMA headquarters at 6th and C St.
