Hey Guys. we had a suggestion to do a forge build.

so we figured we could list all the items needed. may be some links to where to get them and see if we can get some people who want to but the stuff and bring it down.

we can do all the welding there, line everything and fire em up to test them.

then maybe someone can go over tuning the forge to get the right atmosphere for forging/heat treating

what do you guys think?

i think this would be perfect for people trying to get into forging. or damascus making. and any new guys who need to start somewhere. its very inexpensive conpared to industrial models. and we can run tehm at about 3 psi of propane and reach welding temps

Another NECKA hammer in?

I'd love to get back up there because of the fond memories from way back...maybe 6 or 7 years ago...?

John Frankl's damascus demo

Great FOOD!! YUM!! Fresh new england seafood fixed up by Portuguese dudes. Yep, this was some of the best food I've EVER eaten.

...and knifemaking by a bunch of very talented guys!!

Thanks for the great memories...someday, I'd love to come back up.

I second the forge build. I started building one so I have a lot of the stuff already.

A demo on anodizing titanium would be really cool.

Thanks,
Lon

page that would be great

this looks like a good start..

Guys we talked some about the same weekend as the NCCA show

NCCA One Day Show
Sunday, July 27th 2008
Marlboro, MA - Holiday Inn

if it's timed this way we would have the Necka 2 day H/I
July 26th and 27th ..
where this will be a two day gig for us,
this way some of the guys that wanted to go there also, could kill two birds with one stone for the weekend with an ~ 1 1/2 hour drive from the H/I to the show . Mike thought of this and I agree it may work out ..

your thoughts on it ?

edited ::: Mike am I thinking the right Month???
it's the next NCCA one day show in Mass I belive
other than the one at te end of this month on the 30th , that one is SOON

Jon, you're more than welcome to come to the Necka H/I, the more the better..
we'll be putting up some parts info for the forge building to make things easier for the build for those that want to build one that week end.... it may even end up 3 days .. we'll see.
were working out a good date so as many can make it as posable to benefit from this.

also, Jon
take the time to stop in to IG's place if get the chance to do so, I saw the other thread with the invite you can't go wrong with that
