Thanks!

It would not be my first choice. Its handle is too slick and the guards too small. Its double edged, which is illegal in many areas. Its also a fixed blade which is probably going to be seen as being a weapon easier than most folders. If I was going to carry a knife for defense it would be a 4 inch folder with a lock I trusted, or If i wanted to run the risk, a larger more capable fixed blade. Problem with the Garm is its going to get you in as much trouble if caught with it, as a gun in most jurisdictions. Some maybe not. To each his own. I would not be caught with one. I could come up with a better excuse for a good sized 5 inch working type fixed blade or more utility looking neck knife design. Being double edged adds little effectiveness to knife that short, but adds a lot of trouble with the cops. If you want an aggressive neck knife get a Livesay WOO with cord wrapped handle. It will never slip on you. Or better yet his utility blade NRGS with the same cord wrap. About 25 bucks each. Look at some nice 3 inch bladed high quality folders. They will serve you better and have some utility to them as well.

I have to say I too like the looks of the Garm 1, but since I've never handled one, Mike's comments take precedence, both the handle feel and legalities. I agree with what he said, and I would also stick to a single edge if I carried a straight blade. Perhaps your local laws would be amenable to carrying a knife openly? You might be able to tote a relatively benign looking straight blade if you put your mind to it, but again, no double edges (dirks, daggers and stillettos, OH MY!).

Karl

P.S. On Halloween, you might get away with the biggest, baddest looking swords and knives you feel like, as long as the rest of you dresses the part!
