Any Malla specials kicking around out there, Uncle Bill?

Just wondering if there are any Malla blems that have been reduced in price, like the one by KNN that went...seems like an excellent khukuri for Martial Arts practice and cutting. I would special order one from Bura, but what with all the things going on in Nepal...

Are these Mallas really around 21oz or 1.3lbs? That would make it much lighter than a WWII model of the same length, right?

I'm not Khukuri savvy, but the shopping site lists Malla's as being much heavier. The one that sold was unusual.

Hi Kmark,

My Bura Malla is 23oz, and one that sold that same day as a PGA was about 22oz IIRC. I don't do martial arts any more, but I would think the Malla would make an excellent weapon!!

I don't recall what the Malla I got from Walosi weighed, but I do know it's fairly light and that I have to go along with the other forumites in saying it's more weapon oriented than a chopper.
However any H.I.Khukuri will perform chopping, some are just better at it than others.
I have chopped small 2 inch saplings down okay with my little 13" Balance model and with its wasp waist it is very light, it just took a little more time than a bigger khukuri.

As usual, each kami has his own notion as to how a Malla (or anything else for that matter) should be made. If Sher gets back to his old form and Pala doesn't jump on him for using too much steel and driving up shipping costs he'll make a Malla that weighs three or four pounds.

A Malla fit for an execution.

My dream Malla:

- 21 to 23oz in weight
- 18" long overall
- wood handle
- steel fittings
- made by Bura

However, if there are any Malla PGAs out there that fit the first three requirements (weight, length, wood handle), then I'll be the first to plunk money down for it. I totally regret having let that KNN Malla escape...

Bug me and I'll look tomorrow and see what we have. I think there are only two Mallas left in stock.
