You should use Firefox- I do, and I have not had a problem, Freeze up, or pop up since I switched. It seems to work faster than IE also. Its free so you cant go wrong trying it out. (it will transfer your favorites and everything when you install).

A possible clue:

I have observed today in two hang-ups that it seems to aflict longer posts.

The same thing happens if one attempts to edit a longer post. When you go to save the changes, IE6 (Under XP) locks up tight.

I have just completed all outstanding patches and updates for my Windoz XP system and that did not help.

I think you got it.

Seems like the longer the post or reply - the more likely it is going to lock-up IE6.

Just to show difference I am on Windows Me and IE6 (both updated regularly).

Since the majority of the internet world is on IE6 - I would suggest this is a pretty serious BUG.

For 3 days now I have still NOT been able to post my response in that thread over at Knife Reviews & Testing.

Question

I was just able to post over at Knife Reviews & Testing with the message that I had 3 days' worth of failed attempts - I was taken aback by the really FAST response time for posting - just like before all these problems.

I came here to post/ask if this problem had been fixed - and IE locked up on me.

The only variation seems like I deleted the QUOTE - whereas the failed post here had a previous QUOTE. Let's see if it makes any difference without the tags....

EDIT: Yep, the QUOTE made the difference this posted really FAST, like there was no problems whereas the posts that LOCK-UP IE seemed to all have been ones with previous QUOTEs

This is a trial post using the QUOTE button -
then deleteing the QUOTE tag.

The Preview worked fine and FAST - I think this might be it.

For me I think I'll have to avoid having previous QUOTE tags in the message for now.........

Here are two more datums.

I have observed that there are certain threads where I simply can't make even a two-line reply while making long replies in other threads works fine.

I have also observed that this problem tends to set in more as threads get longer and longer.

I have been using AD Browser and it has locked up a few times maybe 3
times that is. Normally when I try to submit a reply. I shut down and restart
and my post is entered when I log back on though.

I use the QUOTE button - so it's the advanced text box(?)

It's normally the QUOTE=username like above that causes the lock-up - most of the times when doing multiple Preview Posts, and then any Edits.

I'll just do a Submit Reply withOUT any Preview Posts. If this post is successful - I'll try to return to Edit this post.....
