BF locks up while posting with quote

Almost every time I post something with a quote, the BF web site site locks up.
This occurrs quite often in all forums, but was really giving me problems in the TGB&U forum while I was posting in the Maxpedition thread.

Also, when I replied to someone's PM to me, BF locked up as well. When, I replied without the quote or posted without quotes, everything was fine.

This happens on my computer at home and at work.

Whats' the browser you're using please?

This happens often to me too - especially using the default QUOTE=username tag.
I have to now remember each time to modify the QUOTE to get rid of the tag (ie: as above - just using plain text) otherwise IE6 is likely to lock-up on me.

Please see these relevant threads here -

IE locks up BAD when posting!

Post testing

This has been an on-going problem for me since the new BF software, over 3 weeks now.

Spark and BF admin are aware of this problem -
BUT as yet no analysis or solutions have been offered.

Thanks, UVT!
I use IE 6.0. However, not all of IE locks up, only the BF web site.

I don't have to reboot and can still go to other web sites while the BF web site is locked.

Sounds similar to what happens to me.

IE6 locks up on BF but other instances of IE6 are OK.

BUT for me the only way to get out of the BF/IE6 lock-up is to do the dreaded CTRL-ALT-Delete and End the BF/IE6 task which knocks out all the other instances of IE6 too.

I've mentioned this before (so hopefully it's not just whining) sometimes when I forget to modify/get rid of the QUOTE tag and BF/IE6 locks-up I've basically lost all the work, composition, links, photos etc of that post without any means of recovery - even though I can still see the post on the screen in the locked-up IE6. It's often sudden-death/totally UNforgiving - that's what makes it so frustrating...
and it's not as if I'm using anything "special" - it's just plain old IE6, the most common (and de facto standard) browser out there -
and BF did NOT have any of this problem before the software update.

It's still doing it with me as well. I've found that the longer the quote the faster it locks up. With a short quote it will hang for a while and eventually post and then unlock.

I'm running IE 6 with the latest upgrades on widoz XP.

I had it happen when I had 2 Bladeforums windows open. One window locked up on a post with QUOTE but the other still worked fine. I left the locked window running, and eventually it worked.

Now I don't do quotes anymore at all.

"I use quotation marks and italicization instead."

As said previously this is a default installation of vb3. There's another version coming out soon. Hopefully that will fix this problem.

Thanks this has been suggested before - I have tried Mozilla FoxFire and unfortunately there are some essential functions that will only work with IE6 for me.

Also it may be worth noting that there has been a report that the same problem occurs with FireFox - so it is NOT immune -

in thread: IE locks up BAD when posting!

I think to have compatibility with the most common and de facto browser IE6 may be worthwhile for BF.......?

and hopefully Spark and/or BF admin have made these lock-up problems with IE6 (with links to the threads?) known to the relevant people at vBulletin???
