X-42 field knife

A question for those in the know. Is the X-42 field knife still being made? All the places that I searched show it out of stock. What is the story?
Thanks,
Dave. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/im...lies/smile.gif

Unfortunately it has been discontinued. But I have occasionally seen them on E-bay.

From what I remember about 100 dollars, sometimes less sometimes more. I remember one time where a guy was selling them for around 80-90 dollars, I could shoot myself for not buying one.

The X-42 with BG-42 steel is the one I'd recommend, Great Knife !! That steel is harder than anything I'm familiar with. I had one and enjoyed it thoroughly, and one of our SOG Forumites wanted it so badly I did the right thing and sold it to him.
A terrific knife !!

Cheers,

Carl

Thanks for your help. The reason I was asking, is because I have one NIB, that I am going to sell in the production knives for sale by individual forum here. It is a great knife, that I bought because of the BG-42 steel. But as it sometimes goes, other knives got in line first. It just sat in the gun safe.

Mine is the BG42 with DLC coating.
I believe you can still find them on the SOG site, if you go to the seconds section. They are listed as S30V... something I haven't seen...

I'm the Forum Member that wanted one badly, who ended up with Carl's X-42 Field knife. Awesome blade!! Made two custom Leather sheaths for it.

DavidZ, If you don't want it I'm sure you will find a buyer. Though I'd probably give it a try first, it's definantly a good blade.

I got one from ebay as my Xmas present, great knife, poor sheath.
Not surprised you made leather sheaths for them, the supplied one comes away from the belt when you try and draw it!!!!
