If your sure its the Trident or S2 and not the Trident II or S2B then I would say YES its a good buy. And not that its a big deal but I see more and more people calling the S2 a Trident 1. I think I'm even guilty of this. I don't think there is a Trident 1 but if there ever is a Trident 1 its going to be confusing. I think there is The Trident Bowie or S2 and I say Bowie because there is also a Trident folder The Sog Trident or TF-# and then there is the Trident II or S2B. Okay I'll shut up now.

Its definitely a Trident S2 (the first one rather than the S2B second one), hence dubbing it the Trident 1

Micarta handle 440c steel, leather sheath etc I double checked with the seller first

thanks for the reply

Yeah I understand the reasoning. But I think this is how the Tech series got me so confused. First there was the Sog Tech (7" blade) then there was the Tech II (7.25" blade). So some people called the Tech (7" blade) the Tech I. Then you guessed it the Tech I the real Tech I (6" blade) showed up. So now when you talk about Tech I some people think your talking about the Tech and when your talking about the Tech some people think your talking about the Tech I, with the best intentions in mind of course. But hey that's what forums are for eh. And once again I think you got a good deal! I've seen the Trident II go for that much.

Confusing stuff here. I hate it when a company calls two different knives the same name. Anyway the original trident fixed blade is the thicker older model made in seki Japan. The new trident is the thinner stock one made in Taiwan and retails for about $100 less. I'd say you got yourself a good one.

Thanks guys

Never spent that much on a knife before!!! Glad I got a deal (makes me feel a little better).

Only intended getting the Desert Dagger, but reading this forum has got me hooked

BTW I understand your point about the naming. Its just i'm new to the World of SOG and seeing the Trident S2 and then the Trident S2B (II) which is almost identical I naturally called it the Trident 1. I'll know in future ....
