Ugly Knife Makeover!

A fellow INFI brother asked me to help him out on this ugly piglet. I am not sure what the original knife was nor what was done to it. We just all thought that it was sickly looking and was in a bad shape in need of some TLC.

Here is what it looked like.

Here is a pic showing the gap between the left handle slab and the flat of the knife. As you can see it was sanded and canted at an angle. You can also see that the swedge is grounded off to one side. There actually was not much swedge to speak of on the left side of the blade.

Took some Dykem to it and tried a couple of passes on my 60grit belt. The only material that was being removed is only on the handle area. Right then I knew that this was gonna be a tough cookie and that lots of patience will be required to get it back in shape.

So without further dues....Here is what it looks like now. It was kinda hard taking a pic of it because of all the angles. It actually looks better in person. It may be a little hard to make out in the pics showing a two tone finish on this one. The primary bevel and swedge is given my standard hand rubbed satin finish while the flats are polished out to 1200 grit. I had a hard time capturing both focal planes in the pics.

Well this badboy will be going back to its rightful owner as soon as he has time to pick it up. I am very tempted to ask him to sell it to me Hopefully, he will like it as much as I do.

What kind of moron does that to a Busse?

He must be a real idiot.

At least he knew how to fix it.

That is a unique knife, and looks much better now. Does look like some sort of Force One Variant. I think you could have a pretty good business, 'satinizing' our blades :-)
