I would love to get a new bk9. My old one was stolen I don't use them any more, I'm not interested in using big knives anymore, but they are just so great, and I am always interested in supporting BK&T

Just a quick heads-up. I've noticed some regular Neckers, Champions (Campanions), and Tac Tools available on some knife sites. I think I'll be getting a Champion, if I can't wait for a new BK10. Maybe try a Necker, too, what the heck?

The Kabar Necker in Carbon is now available. I just ordered one on ebay for 36.99. Will make a nice companion to the San mai I have.

Last night Smokey Mountain Knives on TV offered K-BAR Beckers for I believe $79.00...they said it was about 10" overall so I would guess it was 5" blade. I believe they called it the Becker 2, whatever that means. Looked like a longer Companion.

I was looking at the pic on the Ka-Bar website of the Necker...
https://www.kabar.com/images/BK11CSM_large.jpg

What is that black wavey pattern along the edge? Looks horrible. Is that there on the actual knife? Anyone know the purpose?

That is the San Mai Necker. The wavy line is the interface between the laminated steels.

I just got my Ka Bar Becker Necker in 1095. Nice little knife, though it was about as sharp as a butter knife out of the box....and the edge appeared to be slightly uneven.

I'm still pleased.

Hey Everybody.....

First off to falnovice...I am extremely sorry that your blade came a bit dull...can't have that!!... Ka-Bar will certainly touch it up or I will... Let me know what you want us to do and we WILL make it right!!!

Keyfit...The BK2 is the CAMPANION and it does indeed have a roughly 5in blade....

DanielHQ.....WOW... THANKYOU for your support of MY knife habit !!!...
The BRUTES that are out there ,I fear are the last of the lot...It was a looker, but honestly it was not that effective in the field compared say, to the MACHAX and it really did not sell well... The MAGNUM CAMP, whose blade design was by the extraordinarily talented Jerry Fisk was a REAL sleeper in the effectiveness department ..... It is an amazing design BUT, it did not sell worth a damn.....Sorry guys...

BTW,the BK7 COMBAT UTILITY and BK9 COMBAT BOWIE will be shipping as soon as sheaths arrive which is rumored to be real soon as in, days NOT weeks.... For those of you lusting after a BRUTE, try a BK9 COMBAT BOWIE it is my go to big knife now except, for an occaisonal trip down the lane with a MACHAX.....or when enjoying someone elses designs !!!

All Best,
ethan

love my my original and nearly full collection of machax blades. ah, the precious. the nickel-phosphate finish. so nice

those other non-camillus models, the brute, the magnum camp, and even the reinhardt. priceless :}

Ethan,
Thanks for verifying my description of Smokey Mountain Knifeworks selling the new Bk-2.

Is there anything I can do for my Desert Cameo BK7?..I love the knife, but the finish on the butt and handle is peeling. I understand this is why they were discontinued, but can you suggest a fix other than grinding the whole thing to expose the black underneath?

Thumbs up Ethan--Reconsider making the Brute

Ethan--Reconsider making the Brute.......... if not with Kabar then somewhere else!

I've seen at least 1/2 the folks on this thread wishing they had "new" brutes, I think they would sell like hotcakes!

I would certainly take a couple at the very least.

hand sand the material off. then go buy a can of "rhino guard" at the autoparts store in the color you like :> or spray paint it with camo patterns yourself before/after. it's grip like mad, and be trivial to fix if messed up later.

Hey Bladite, keyfit and Thumper416.....

First of all THANKYOU Bladite for your incredible support for my stuff....The Reinhart is also one of my all time favorites.....It not only cuts like a banshee on steroids who is in a very bad mood but, it was designed by one of the greatest western experts of the Kukri to have ever lived....Hank was a real prince and a REAL authority on almost every aspect of cutlery ....A scholar of the blade, an artist in steel and a wonderful friend......He was the brains behind Museum Replicas and the blades he designed WORKED and LOOKED good... I got to throw a tomahwk he designed many years ago and it was so incredibly well balanced that even I could hit almost anything with it!!!! ...His Blades LIVED in your hand....He is unfortunately no longer with us but every time his name comes up I get a smile on my face in remembrance... A truly GREAT guy.......BTW if you get a chance to pick up the Blackjack (original) version of Hank's Kukri it is one of the most impressive blades I have ever had in my hand!!!!! Talk about a light sabre !!!

Keyfit....I think Bladite's advice is at least as good as anything I could tell you....A neww set of handles is available from Ka-Bar if you want to start from scratch....

Thumper416.....OK,OK, OK, allright already I WILL give it more thought......but honest to Murgatroyd they really, Really did not sell....

All Best,
ethan

Maybe you could have Ka-Bar make a limited run of say 1000 knives of the Brute and the Magnum Camp the latter knife would be a favor to me so people I know would stop asking me if they can buy mine.
