Original SOG Tigershark Question

I have a couple of questions about the original Tigershark:

1) Was there a smaller version of it?

2) If so, what steel was it made of?

Thanks!

Original Tigershark...
1) Not that I know of; but it's safe to assume that the entire line grew in size from the original SOG SG-1 Bowie.
2) Know the gun blued midnite tiger was SK5.
The stainless was a Japanese equivalent to the 400 series.

Good for you! I got one off there too (mint in box and still with the original cardboard on the blade). Such a great blade, its a shame they went away.

I think I'll be getting a TINI Tech Bowie to match it, best thing I can think of for a smaller version.

I think the smaller version was the Nite Tech.

Blued nite tech's are pretty rare I imagine, since they were short lived in production.
It isn't particularly easy to maintain and keep pristine a blued surface, after harsh use.
Hence I suspect the surge of stainless steel models and blued for wall hangers.

Yeah they are pretty rare. I hardly see em on eBay (or anywhere else for that matter).

Btw, when I said Nite Tech, I was saying they were the smaller version of the Midnite Tiger, not the standard Tigershark (in case anyone was wondering.. )

In case anyone was wondering the SOG Tech 1 (with a short 5.75 inch blade) and SOG Tech 2 (that with the longer 7.25 inch blade) were both fore runners to the SOG SEAL 2000. In fact one might say that the SEAL 2000 evolved from the SOG Tech 2. And as explained the Nite Tech was a gun blued carbon blade.

Jackpot! Original, plain edge, SK-5 Tigershark in my hands! SWEET blade! Moves extremely well, CUTS extremely well, and boy am I happy with this one.

Has the Santa Monica mark on one side, Seki Japan on the other side. Came with SOG sheath.

Why SOG won't do a limited run on these is beyond me. It's a fantastic blade.

Nice score! The knife in their split bullet demo was also the SK-5 Tigershark

Congratulatins

Is it the standard Tigershark or a Midnite? I've seen the uncoated ones with SOG leather sheaths but mine and the other Midnites I've seen posted up here have Gerber sheaths.

I have the satin finished one, and I'm really happy with the piece. Moves well, cuts well, and looks very easy to maintain. From everything I've read about its performance capabilities (and what I've seen it do on knifetests.com), I'm quite ecstatic about the find.
