The wait is over! Take a look at Nitecore’s new SENS models - unique compact Every Day Carries with Active Dimming Technology. An acceleration sensor is built in to each of these lights to allow automatic output changes based on the angle of the light.
Simply point the light directly upwards and twist the bezel to turn it on and calibrate the sensor. The light will then adjust to three separate outputs based on the illumination distance required. Pointed towards the floor, the light will dim, as the light is brought towards a horizontal position it will move to medium until it is directly horizontal, where its high mode will be activated.

The lights come in AA, CR123, and CR2 formats.

Interesting technology, and these lights are not very spendy either.
