Carbide banding in RWL-34?

Is it what I have here? First time seeing this in this steel. HT was 1080 C, plate quench, LN2, 175 C 2x2 hrs. 63 Hrc.

Looks too wavy to be banding to me unless it is something particularly unusual

Could be... Looks almost like an auto-hamon. Dip it in some acid.

What was the steel.

I don't think an auto-hamon is possible in an air hardening steel.

My suspicion is it is a manufacturing/rolling artifact.

It is RWL-34

more extreme then im used to seeing but could be. all none PM steels can have this happen. i know for sure i could look at cpm154 vs 154cm and tell the difference

RWL-34 is PM steel, pretty much identical to CPM154
