Hey guys,

I made one of these for an Izula over on the ESEE forums and was asked if I could make them for the BK11/14's too so I made one up. I was mostly just looking for feedback and wondering how well they would sell.... I know not everybody needs to conceal a small knife. I've had this idea for a while but then I realized that KaBar had discontinued the TDI Ankle Rig at the start of this year so I called them and bought everything they had left... which wasn't much but atleast it was the motivitation to get started.

I've got another "Ankle Rig" in the works but I'll see how these do in the shop first. The complete rig (sheath included) weighs only 4.5oz and a little less for the Izula and Candiru... this setup also fits the Swamp Warden, Scrapivore, Izula II etc. If you haven't worn a TDI ankle rig before they're really comfortable but this setup is even lighter and I forgot I had one on walking around a mall with the kids.

I opted not to "wrap" the scales like I normally do for the 11/14's to not add weight but I still wanted something to push off of with my thumb so I went a little high with the Kydex and then removed some for the scales to slide into place. The knife will come out fast by just pulling on it too.... and if you don't use the scales the knife still fits no problem.

Very Nice!!! Are they available on the exchange or just a project you did for fun?
 
I guess I should start but I've never put an ad up or posted anything I make in the exchange.... I'm going to start making "non-custom order" sheaths and posting them in the exchange now though. I'll put this one up later today.

JES, the back has a mesh cover over some padding... the mesh looks like the material used for football jerseys/shirts. Pretty "airy" and padded.

Ok I stolez this image from a Google search... the black material behind the mesh seems like a foam pad material.

It looks cool, probably be a great idea for a deep carry. I tried ankle-carrying a gun before, wasn't my thing...just too slow and awkward to get to, but for a knife it is likely a great carry option.


How big do the TDI straps open up? LOL I have cankles.....lots of stuff like that wont fit my legs, I have a devil of a time buying gaiters and rubber boots that will fit me.
 
Very cool. I have that material on a pack on the portion that is on my body and it stays very cool.
 
That is a damn nice rig. I'd get one but the only time I carry a concealed knife is when I'm in the field for work, and the standard Candiru sheath attached to my snake boots works a charm.
 
I like it. I am intrigued also. What does the back part that would be touching your sock/leg look like ?
 
Looks great. Was considering doing something like that from an iPod armband at some point...
 
Looked for your ad. Is it up yet? I'm actually interested in purchasing one of these things.
