The strong tip transitions to a near zero bevel.

Damn. There is a guy in California that is going to dig this. I need to talk to you by the way.

Ok, I just keep coming back to this just to check it out! I feel like I'm 8 years old a week before christmas, the anticipation is nearly unbareable! I've been looking through my knot books to try and come up with a fancy combination of sinnets, wall and button knots for this knife!

Seriously, this is gorgeous. With a spear point I'd think this a great all arounder.

Its not super radical, but you can see it better here...

Thanks for the photo.
My apologies, I was just browsing the forums and was expecting to see something dramatic like what Bill Davis does on his loveless-style knives, from ~1/4" ricasso to ~1/16" pommel, easily visible on a pommel-shot. I was wondering if the tapering on this knife was a hollowing-out of the tang beneath the scales... which are beautiful, btw ;)

No worries! I like the more extreme style of taper on some knives but for my knives I leave them thicker. I usually do a full thickness tang, this was per request and I think it was a great idea for this knife.

As far as technique goes I drilled and hollow ground the tang. I did it along the lines of how Loveless does it, just not as deep. I think the hollow ground tang really helps making the tapering easy, it is amazing how fast they go that way. It was probably faster than grinding a tang flat! This was done post heat treat by the way.

I appreciate the questions, I always like to talk knives.

Love the knife especially the teak. Great finish on it. <It's the guitar guy in me that makes me notice the wood first :)> Rest of the knife is pretty dang cool, too.

Hey Daniel, I saw that KFU had a nice block of teak burl up in the exchange yestrday...
