Case mini trapper vs GEC 42

I carry a Case mini trapper often. I keep looking at GEC knives and was wondering how the 42 or 72 compare in size. I really like the trapper pattern but unfortunately I am unable to carry anything on my left side. So I try to keep the knife small enough to carry in the watch pocket. Thanks...

    Lest We Forget!!

Thank you to all the veterans. My son was 4th generation military. At the age of 4 he walked up to me and said "dad when i grow up I'm going to be a Marine" 14 years later he stood on the yellow feet at the entry station. PTSD is a horrible disorder. Both him and my brother suffer from it...

    My Next Knife? (Case Content)

Ribbons, you can't go wrong with any Case knife. I have both the barlow and sod buster jr. They are great knives. Maybe you're right just buy all 3 and be done with it. You know deep down you'll probably end up with them anyways. And then in a month you'll find 3 more and the month after that...

    What happened to Case?

I have quite a few Case knives and no problems. Some were bought new off line from reputable dealers. Some off the auction sight. Nope not a problem. I'm not sure where you purchased from but there are a lot of counterfeit products out there. I bought a spyderco para military off line that...

I think I may be done

I carry a Case peanut and barlow everyday. I could survive with the peanut. Like jacknife has said its all about a sharp knife. I use the peanut for just about anything. I've even filleted crappy with it while my son was yelling for a knife. I have carried large stockman and trappers even a...

    Case edge grinds

When I purchase a new knife, Case or whichever brand, I sharpen all the factory marks off the edge. All my Case knives have been hair shaving sharp out of the box.

    .....are you a knife tart.....?

I'm not sure. I can't afford the GEC knives. I carry a CASE peanut with the Patriotic karinite handles that my girlfriend bought me. If I buy a knife it is used with lots of character and has to be at a decent price. Otherwise the brand and pattern don't seem to matter. Must be USA made Hey...

    8 Years of the Peanut

Stich2442. Great story. I've carried and used mine for years. Like you I've used it to fillet fish, meal prep and to fix a lot of things. It started out as pocket worn Bermuda green and is now just about smooth and has turned to almost black. You can amaze a lot of people with something so...

    Grinders and belt sanders

I haven't bought a new knife for years. I figure there are a lot of nice used knives that have better fit and finish. They do what a knife is supposed to do. Cut. I don't need the fancy new steels or the outrageous price tag that is seen on the knives that are most talked about here. I've...

Most ideal / perfect vs favorite.

I've pretty much settled with the CASE Peanut. It's easy to carry, disappears in the watch pocket, stays sharp as long as I do my part. People watch me use it and just smile and shake their heads. If I'm doing a project that needs a bigger knife I'll grab a stockman or scout, can't go wrong...
