I've Successfully Lightened a Nailbreaker Backspring

Nice work, traukommode! I thinned the spring on a nail breaker secondary, by filing the back spring, with the blade half opened. It has a cam tang, so the spring protrudes a lot with the blade in that position. The spring is now sunk a bit in opened or closed positions, but the pull is tamed...

Let's see some " worn out " knives

If I saw that at a yard sale, I would most likely be leaving with it in my pocket. :) It's still a handsome knife.

"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

I heard that in north america, maybe worldwide (?), There are 11% more than average car accidents on the day after we lose an hour's sleep. And here's the cool part...the day after we get the extra hour of sleep, we have 11% fewer accidents. Same number, hmmm. I know: lies, damnable lies, and...

Edge/Bevel preferences for Traditional Slip Joints

I go (freehand) with about 15° to a burr on medium and fine. Then I finish with 20°(+) on the fine, to remove the burr and refine the edge. This has been working really well for me, on the only knife I carry lately, that has blades of C70 run a tad soft for my liking. This has given me slicey...

"Carl's Lounge" (Off-Topic Discussion, Traditional Knife "Tales & Vignettes")

My wife is a middle school teacher, so will be getting hers soon, as she's a so called essential worker. I may qualify, as a carpenter/contractor... We'll see. Canada has been slow on the vaccine rollout, as we have no means to manufacture the vaccine in country. That may change soon, which will...

Tidings and the return of Schatt and Morgan?

I will probably pick one up, regardless of the issues. I could love an ugly duckling, like one in the photos. I would not be interested in that FAT stag handled one though. Jeepers !

    E. Bruckmann Knives

That is a handsome and well built, what I take to be an electricians knife. There is a current production Italian knife, made in the nearly exact same pattern, (shadow pattern, birdseye pivot) but in wood. The knife was not as well put together as the Bruckmann, way more of a rough and ready...
