I just gave mine a once over after reading back in this thread. My knife has no markings on it! How strange. Nothing on either side of the blade and nothing on any of the sides of the pommel..
The pommel is held in place by the peened tang and there is a metal spacer under the guard.
Apprently this knife was from a solider who served during the Vietnam conflict. Traded to an SAS solider during visits in Ireland during the IRA's terror regime. Someone had a go at making th sheath more decorative. :)
In the UK American transports are over priced, espeically condiering the exchange rate being in our favour.
That bowie cost me £14 - $18 and the other Marbles machetes are £22 - $29 without the sheath..! (don't get me started on the Buck 110 being £65 - $85 lol) Still cheap though for a fully...
A Marples jungle bowie. It's not finished yet as I've gotten new tools since I shaped the handle a while back. I removed the scales, reshaped the handle, stripped the paint, handled in walnut and filed in a ricasso. I bathed it in vinegar to darken the blade too but I may polish it..
Blade made from a scrap of two man saw, bolster cut from old scrap brass plate, retaining pin made from old nail, antler ..well scrap tine from adead eer lol and sehath made from an old belt and dyed using my home made dye (vinegar and iron shavings, left to ferment).
