Y2 after 1 month-the best yet most dangerous edc ..

I posted back a month ago on my quest to up my edc's into a higher level of quality. I settled on Spyderco after a LOT of research. I first got the ambitious and then the persistence to check out quality of the 'value' blades and it was great. Then I settled on the yojimbo which exceeded my...

Anyone else picking up the SuperLeaf?

The superleaf was on my top 4 list as I struggled to decide between the Manix2 g-10, sage3, superleaf, and yojimbo. I really like the look of the jimping on manix2 and so I leaned towards that even though I wanted the compression lock. The sage3 was in between. In the end-it was between the...

Thanks Spyderco and spyderco members....received my new....woohoo its better then...

I expected. After joining in a flurry of knife research and 25-30 years of owning dozens of <$40(mostly <$13) edc's I decided on Spyderco and/or BM. I spent time on both and still have yet to discover the BM that will thrill me. But along the way I got the Ambitious and the Persistence. I...

I went to check out the _________ in person and was surprised I was SO UNDERWHELMED..

your correct that I "judged" bm based on those two models-but-only because thats all the store had for me to handle. I wanted to actually have some hands on experience before deciding on the BM vs. the Spyderco but all they sell in stores around here besides Gerber and crkt (oh-shoot-I forgot...

What Spydie do you have on the way???

Just orderd a Yojimbo2 after about 2 weeks of research and hemming and hawing back and forth between a Manix2, SuperLeaf, Sage3(ilove it) and the totally unique and I am hoping-versatile Y2. Compression lock, and forward grip blade with full power to tip. Should be a perfect edc. Hope so anyway.

I went to check out the _________ in person and was surprised I was SO UNDERWHELMED..

Thanks bladechick. You have expressed my sentiments exactly. I WANTED to love a BM but the 'noryl' or gfr or whatever it is will ALWAYS stop me in my tracks. And I was thoroughly satisfied with every other aspect of the Barrage-including the lock-bar but It still didnt 'blow me away' It worlked...

I went to check out the _________ in person and was surprised I was SO UNDERWHELMED..

Sorry about posting in the wrong board..or wahtever 'law' I busted. I want to be clear i really did not want to trash BM knifes because A)I don't know enough about them and B) I HAVE to believe that if the same guys that love the Spydercos are also lovin some of the BM's then there is something...

What Spydie do you have on the way???

y2/ manix g-10* held off on the Manix2 because I am so pleased with the Persistence(blue) that it covers the bases for my desire for both the Sage3 and Manix2 for a while. Te Yojimbo should cover ALL the rest of what I wanted in an edc. can't wait.

I went to check out the _________ in person and was surprised I was SO UNDERWHELMED..

I thought i shouldn't post this on the forum where it really should go because I am not really into trashing on a brand-especially one that is enjoyed-by I am sure-many on this forum as well. However-In my quest to own 2-3 higher quality edc's and narrowing it down to Spyderco and Benchmade I...

    Why no thumb studs?

If it makes you feel any better-I got an Ambitious the other week and it had some friction and centering issues and then I got my blue persistence the other day and it is 98% perfect. It deploys quickly, Centered perfectly. All I did was switch the clip to blade up and scrape a few very minor...

    How about a Spyderco NYC?

well-I am not going to worry about my EDC carry of a persistence, Y2 (tho that blade might be the one most likely as an edc to be scrutinized). I have noticed lately that I am of the age where a lot of the cops are young kids (gals and guys) and their more likely to call me "sir" then back in...

cone shaped sander to round out the spydie hole?

well-All I have to compare is two relatively new Spydercos and an old cheap crkt with an oval cut-out and I do not consider either Ambitious or Persistence to be "sharp" edged. Maybe I have thumbs used to years of tool use but what I would call a 'defined' edge on the spydercos is EXACTLY what I...

    How about a Spyderco NYC?

woah. goes to show how out of touch people get. I visit my daughter in Brooklyn and Manhattan twice a month and never thought to check my edc which up til recently was either a kershaw leek or crown. I never even thought about it. If-on the off chance I was stopped and a cop did happen to check...

The absolute best quality spyderco for the least amount of $ with following crit....

just to be clear (and make myself even more nit-picky) when I said "beefy" I was referring to a chunky knife like the Ambitious which for its small size weighs and feels more substantial then it looks. I am actually looking for a fairly smal but heavy (+40oz) knife but I think the two 'perfect'...

The absolute best quality spyderco for the least amount of $ with following crit....

thanks. the y2 @ 104 sounds like the best solution-even if it is a bit lighter then the manix2. so-what is kw? I looked and found a kw surplus blades but they dont' do internet sales-they say. Is it against forum rules to mention a name outright? (i have only found it as low as $120 at another...

The absolute best quality spyderco for the least amount of $ with following crit....

Thanks for the replies. Now-I'm going nuts. I am staring at dueling images of the Sage3 in blue and the Manix2 in black g-10. I like them both a LOT. The Manix2 is a great price but the damn Sage3 is not only SWEET-its blue and available for a little more then my price point. However-without...

The absolute best quality spyderco for the least amount of $ with following crit....

Well-the ambitious and persistence are my first flat grinds and I am liking the edge a LOT for what I normally cut. I havn't really had the experience with the flat to compare to years of using my cheaper EDCs which are all pretty much hollow grinds. I actually need to read up or be told what...

The absolute best quality spyderco for the least amount of $ with following crit....

Thanks. I've read/seen on youtube great things about the Para2. As for the descriptive-plasticy-I don't have a word that isn't too negative-like 'cheap' which I don't believe it is even though some guys say it feels so. (i.e.-anybody want a gerber f.a.s.t. for cheap?) Your right-its just my...

Three of the strangest things? The M16,Glock and Spyderco.

Not quite 60 but I relate to Glock and Spyderco. In fact- it wasn't until a few weeks ago that I finally decided after 30yrs of constant EDC blade use that I came to see the Spyderco as a uniquely designed little masterpiece. But I'm still new to the brand and have yet to really experience its...
