this pic is from a very good friend of me. i dont know exacly date when it was made. Maybe on the photo is some kind of proto? Dont know.

Looks like micarta not G10 but sometimes it's hard to tell from pics.
That pic is from Thomas W. Posted here (and also in his Twitter I believe): http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/849935-What-the/page3
My best guess is that the top scale they did up in micarta to test processes and how the knife feels in hand which can be done in micarta rather than using somewhat expensive carbon fiber. The bottom scale you can see is carbon fiber (see the weave). The other possibility is that the top is a carbon fiber but not done in the usual twill weave and looks like a black canvas micarta but uses woven carbon fibers rather than canvas. It doesn't have that shiny graphite sheen to it though so I don't think that is the case. The carbon fiber on the 0300TAD though looks just like the G10 depending on the lighting. I'm still leaning toward regular micarta.. the purpose though I'm not sure of. This has probably been answered somewhere in the 0777 thread but my wallet starts to cry whenever I'm in that thread so I've tried to avoid it.

I hope it'll happen one day, but I seriously doubt we would see it for another few years, with all the new, awesome models ZT is coming out with.

The scale in the picture is a G-10 sample from early on in the prototyping process. We are currently keeping busy working on the production 0777's.
