One Million Posts! (Well, not right now, but soon!)

Woohooo! It's been a wild and woolly year since I took over the site and I have to say that things are pretty good.

We've gained about 5000 members - (4905 to be exact, 408 per month). We've gained new forums, including the (relatively) new Traditional's and Battle Blades forums. We've tripled, yes tripled, the user activity on this site.

Some people said that turning the For Sale forums into "pay to play" would kill this site. Far from it - those of you who have signed up for Gold, Premium, KnifeMaker and Dealer Memberships can rest assured that it's because of you that this site is still open. Traffic has actually increased since we've switched formats, and no one is more surprised by that than me. Thank you for proving the naysayers wrong.

It's also been a year of loss for us. Doc Walt is no longer with us, as are several other valued members of our community. We've all be affected by the events of Sept 11. Many of our members are currently deployed and are putting themselves in harm's way; like those who went before we all owe them a debt of gratitude.

As we look to the future, I can only hope that we continue on in the same vein as we always have - providing the best information and the best community to the most knife nuts in the world.

Thanks for helping me bring this to you, and thanks for being a part of the family.

Congratulations Spark! I once commanded this ship and I could not have had a better 1st officer. Now with you being the Captain I see you are doing a great job and steering the ship in the right direction.

This has been a terrible year for losses. Losing Doc. Welch was hard for all of us. I miss hearing him ask me to do my turkey call and he is the only one I have ever done it for over the phone. What a great man. Like those who have graced these pages before him, he, as well as other will be sorely missed.

Enjoy the helm, keep her straight and look out for Schlossbergs, I mean icebergs!

Sure has been fun so far and I am sure that there is much yet to come.

that's great, Spark, but I think you are celabrating a bit early.
Won't take long for this place to reach 100,000,000 posts, let alone 500,000,000.
 
WOW! it's nice to be a millionaire. Congratulations, I'm glad I found you, can't say the same about my wife, though ;)
 
I've had a lot of fun and met some great people since I found this site. Thanks to all who created it!

I'm sure Doc and James Mattis are up in the sky looking down on us, Doc with his Mad Dogs and James with his puukos.

I have learned a lot this last year and made a few great friends; even you samhell :p And I have come a long way in my knife making. Thanks to all for everythign here, especially to you Sparky. For a tutu wearing ex para, you sure know how to run a tight ship, Cap'n!

Well, I like this place. That's why I keep coming back. And Spark, you've got a great place here. Keep it up.

You can tell how bored I get sometimes. I just kept refreshing the count until I saw it click over to a million at about 9:24 EST, today.

You guys (Spark and Mike) have done a great job in starting and maintaining this site as a high-caliber place for us knifeknuts to congregate and learn and just have fun.

Keep up the good work. You will always have my support.:)
