110 Gurus......Any Guesses?

Nice Ebony, non-sharp edged grind lines and it looks like a slab side. I'm guessing a 2 dot.

Thank you, gentlemen.

But where's Dave 110?

I wanted his guess before the jar was empty.

Dave? You ok?

Well, yes.....when I first looked at the pics I guess I was fooled by the soft focus. It kind of softened the edges on everything and my old eyes soften things anyhow......corners looked kind of rounded so I didn't realize it was an older knife.

But.....my intuition was screaming at me to take a longer look and sometimes I listen. My intuition has made some great scores and some stupid mistakes, so I'm skeptical.

Then, I'm thinkin, "Ah, could be a dot knife." Then I'm thinkin, "Could even be a Three-Dot!"

Then I'm lookin at the kick and it looks kind of too rounded, but maybe that's another result of the poorly focused pics.......

Hmmmmm.......so I take another gamble and make my best generous bid.

We shall see. I could ask the seller, but so often they are unable to accurately answer a question, so I'll just wait til it arrives. Gives an old man something to look forward to.

:)

Oh......I should add that I only first saw this when it had three minutes left, so everything had to happen at super speed (well, super speed for me, anyhow).

dugh .. gee wizz .. ifn i had know ya was a wanting a 3 dot thata badly i coulda sold ya one fer a little less then that..
lattice us know what it is when it gets there..
btw any one out there know when they went to the 3 rivit handles ?
wood look it up but i gots to pack ,,,

I was gonna say early seventies, but I know you're a stickler for details, so I looked at Joe's info and it says 74.

As to you selling me a Three-Dotter.....well, what fun would that be? You know we need the excitement of the hunt and chase!!

The thrill of victory.....the agony of de feet.

Besides, I'd rather beat you to them on the Bay now that you're getting old and slow.

:D

Yeah, I gotta quit these reckless gambles.

I will post pictures when it arrives even if it be horrible disaster so people will learn the consequences of gambling.

But Bertl......they had 2 rivets and a rocker pin.

This one has 3 rivets and the rocker pin.

Modify your guess.

The photo I pulled up, showed 2 pins. Sorry about that. Is the photo still on eBay or is that link gone?

It helps to scroll down the page. Found it and can't tell. It looks like I took the photos.

LOLs!

Maybe you could offer to help the seller with pictures. I'm sure you do better than that.

Anyhow, I'm still hoping for a surprise Three-Dotter in mint condition.

I dream on, I know.

:)

Buck made that style in two dot, three dot, and early four dot style of blades. So let us know what you wind up with. HL

Well, the mystery 110 arrived. Turns out that Sithus was correct (the first and the ONLY correct guess).

Well done, Sithus!

I knew it was not likely that it would turn out to be the far more rare Three-Dotter, but hey, a Two-Dotter is a great knife, too.

And it IS in great condition......that was really the major concern. The blade is pristine. Minor fleabites on the bolsters.

I'm happy with it.

But I still say, gambling is generally unwise behavior.

:D

Nice score BG...and at the going rate it wasn't a terribly dangerous gamble.
Is that the shape it arrived in?

No, it was a little dirty.

I grabbed the Rem Oil and the Brasso and put in about ten minutes of cleanup.

The seller was telling the truth about it just sitting in a drawer or display case or whatever. It shows zero sign of actual use......all nice and tight. Smooth after a little oil.
