Does the chart posted elsewhere in this forum on date codes for 110's correspond to other Buck knives also? I ask because I have a 119 that I know for sure I bought in 1983 in the Base Exchange, but it doesn't have the dot on either side of the model number like the 112 I have from 1978. It came with the sheath that is not a flap over. It could be old stock I guess, but from pre-1974? Just curious, as I could never part with it as it went with me everywhere for 26 years. Great knife that's been through a lot of abuse it wasn't designed for. Thanks to anyone with info.

The 100 series knives only follow the date code after ' 85 starting with the code(<) for the 1986 year. Prior to that the series has a unique way of dating the knives. If your knife has a three line stamp, such as BUCK, 119, USA ( read with the blade pointed up) it would have been made in or after 1973. From 1973 through '81 it would have had 4 micarta spacers in the handle, two under the finger guard and two in the pommel. In 1981 Buck removed one of the finger guard spacers. In the end of '81 through '85 they removed another, leaving only two spacers, one in the finger guard and one in the pommel.

A picture of your knife would help narrow down the year of manufacture. But I have explained the years pretty well. I think you can figure it out from here...
