Evening I'm fixing a knife for one of my advisors (I'm a law enforcement explorer) I took it apart to see what was slowing down the assist mechanism and should the bar be bent? It looks like an L but curves at the bottom pm me and I can email you a picture . The knife is about 10-12 years old. Any help would be appreciated
Joe

The torsion bar should not have a curve in the torsion bar near the bottom. All the bends are 90 degrees and no curves or bends, go through KAI and request a new torsion bar for your BOA it's free! They have great customer service and it'll get to you in about a week... 10-12 years of use is a lot for any torsion bar assisted knife, a new one will bring that knife back to life.

Not true, the 1580 torsion bar has an extra bend in it that is not 90 degrees, more like 30 or so.

Ok, since the action is clean and the assist is still slow I just put in to get a new torsion bar and hopefully that will work,

I think the boa opens a little slower than some of the other models, but you'll know for sure after replacing the bar.

You guys should see some of the China torsion bars.

But yes, each torsion bar is going to be different for each knife. Just call or email Kershaw warranty and they will mail you a new torsion bar (assuming they still have them in stock) free of charge.
