$165 and I want a new slippie

You can get a Canal St. from the same guy that posted that one but it wont have NS liners and 1095. It does have a superior stainless though.Stainless liners too instead of brass.

Check out a Damascus Case knives. They are awesome. Or a nice Queen. That is my suggestions.

GEC Sleeveboard might suit on the single spring demand. They do some boss stag as well.

Thank you guys for the suggestions. I am not really a big fan of the moose. For some reason I do not like two long blades. If there are two blades, one of them has to be smaller like a pen blade.

The GEC Sleeveboard's main blade is way too wide for my tastes. I like clip points, and love the clip point blade on my saddle horn (I think this knife was designed by T. Bose).

At what price, does the nice customs start at?

Thanks,
John

A Queen Cutlery Muskrat in D2 with jigged bone handles might be a good stop gap for you while you are considering your options.

It's 2 blades on a single spring and a very slim knife, the blades are Turkish Clip style. Very good dark amber jigged bone and about 60 USD or less.

GEC Sleeveboards also come with Wharncliffe main blade.

To get a feel for custom prices and specs why not browse through the Makers section ?

OK this is going to sounds bad, but I have been a member here for a few years now and I have never been to the Makers section before :(.

I am not looking to just get something to get something, I want to buy one more slippie and it be the one that I carry till I am old and can not use it any more. I have several knives (mainly Case knives) that I like I really like, but there is always at least one thing I want to change on them. For example, I have Case "half congress" that I carry often, and love the fit and finish, the jigging in the bone, and 90% of the time the sheeps foot for the main blade. The other 10% I wish it was something like a clip point when cutting things on cutting board.

It looks like I just need to save for a custom and get just what I want.

I second that. Queen Muskrat is my next buy.

I know how you feel about wanting 'the one knife'. How do you feel about a single spring canoe? They come in a wonderful variety of handle materials and steels, can be small, medium, or large depending on your preference and are very pocket friendly.

I might also suggest a whittler (or any of its variations). The dual springs side by side make for a thin pocketable knife with great blade variety. (Check out the 'show your whittler' thread for lots of great examples. The stockman whittlers are nice and I myself carry a canoe whittler.

Hope you find your knife!

If you need NS liners they are hard to find. I had a Case XX with NS liners and pins, pinned shield, the whole nine yards. They're out there in the bay, you just have to catch them.
Two backsprings but I'm sure they had a muskrat decked out.

How about a Northwoods Scagel # 11. 1095 & some nice stag. Enjoyed the one I used to have. You may have to forfeit the NS. I actually bought this thinking it would be my last knife to buy for a long time. That lasted about 6 mos. Have fun looking.

If it was me, I would check out the maker's for sale forum and figure out what I want.

Then you've got two choices, you can either save the money and grab one when it comes up or get on a maker's list and get exactly what you want.

A lot of the makers have wait times of anywhere from a couple months to several years, so it might not be a bad idea to get on a list and save while you are waiting for your name to come up.

Jon, if you are not in a rush, start regularly checking the "For Sale by Individuals/Customs" forum. $165 is a little low for a Custom, occasionally great deals(for the buyer) do occur.
after years of favoring bigger folders, i know much prefer a Pen or small 2 blade Jack, esp. ones with graceful curves.
the Case/Bose '09 collab. Norfolk is a beautiful curved 2 blade, but you'd need to add nearly an extra $100.
i just went to get my ebony Norfolk to have as i type this, but, i can't find it after 1 hour of looking everywhere in this house ! i hope i haven't lost it for good. it's one sweet knife. v. worrying at this point. i think it's gone.

This sounds like the path I am going to take. I think to get what I am looking for. I will just need to first find a custom maker that "speaks" to me. I really like T. Bose knives, so I will start there.

Roland, I hope you find your knife. I'm sure it will show up somewhere. i put stuff down where I want to make sure it's in a safe place. What happens? I forget where I put it. LOL
