Well, it's 2010 and WE need to get started on the 2010 Traditional Forum Knife!

What shall it be this year, a canoe, a swayback, a barlow, a sunfish? Who will organize and handle the order?

If possible, with some guidance, I'd like to help in some way this year.

Let me start making enemies early this year. No Warncliffe, Spey or sheepsfoot. 3" - 4-1/2" closed. 3 blade Sowbelly split backspring Whittler w/ swedged Spearpoint master and 2 flat ground pen blades on the opposing end. Translucent green jigged bone (not 'corncob') w/ a heraldic shield. Brass liners (not etched in stone), stainless backsprings and Carbon steel or D2 blades. Standard brushed steel bolsters and shield w/ mirror blade finish. 'BF' on shield, 2010 on main blade mark side bolster and BladeForum 2010 on mark side of main blade. Where do I order?

I see were off to a fantastic start for the 2010 knife. I'ed love to see a serpentine jack with a turkish clip blade, nice bone scales, a remake of the late 1940's Schrade Walden No. 294. Similar to this....

How about a swell center Moose? Spear and clip ATS 34, with swedges, smooth bone, dark as can be with smooth (ok, maybe fluted) nickel silver bolsters. Large shield (Maker) with BF stamped on it, and "Whine and Cheese" etched in gold on the clip blade. BF 2010 tang stamped on the spear. Match strike nail nicks would be nice. That just rolled off the top of my noodle.

Being a U.S. Senator, I am sure you could get this done!;)

Ooh, ooh, ooh! Whatever it is I want in this year!
Getting in on the ground floor I am. Sign me up!

Would love to see ebony handles on whatever is chosen...

Sunfish would be nice but I know many consider them to be too bulky in the pocket. You know I wouldn't be opposed to a trapper pattern or even...a soddie. I do agree...enough with the warncliffe blades.

I don't get enough wharncliffies but what majority says... I think Canoe or Butterbean might be good patterns... but I like so much Texas Jack's. Single blade Texas Jack with drop point blade with small swedge with flat grind. Green bone handles... Of course with carbon steel blade.

I agree. I was too late to the party last year and it is a beauty. I won't miss this one.

I'm thinkin 3.75 inches closed, ebony or some other beautiful bone, 0-1 blades if possible. I'm looking at either a Copperhead pattern by Case or maybe a Stockman/Whittler. Clip main blade, Pen and Copping blades as secondary. Fluted bolsters for sure. Either way though, seeing what I missed out on this year I want in for this coming one for sure.

Docs knife in buffalo horn. With a spatula blade.

If not, it will be Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with a lead pipe......

Scout knife with spearpoint blade, can opener, bottle opener, and awl. Bail on awl end. Canvas micarta handles.

Just a thought, but I think it should be a pattern that hasn't been done yet. I believe these have been done since '06, so there's now 4 of them.

1. Sleeveboard, but I could be wrong on the name. This was before I got into the Traditional Forum, but I think it was stag & D2.
2. Cannitler, so it was similar to a Canoe (Still have mine). Ivory & D2.
3. Stockman. Stag & 1095.
4. Barlow (2 equal blades). Stag & D2.

I believe the 1st one was smallish (Maybe between 3-3.5"). The Cannitler kind of hit 2 birds/patterns at one shot (Canoe/Whittler) & was 3 5/8". The Stockman was on the small size & I believe it was 3.25". The Barlow's at 3.5".

I would think a Peanut or Muskrat might be interesting, or go the other way & a Trapper or Jack pattern in the 3.5-4" range would be nice.

Also, if you recall when we did the '09 knife, I believe the 2 more popular patterns were the Barlow & a Jack. But there was the issue of # of quality manufacturers that could make the knife.

Personally, I'd like to see a nice Trapper or Jack design with 1095 or D2 blade, but that's me. While stag is nice, I believe 2 or 3 of the 4 knives have been stag. A nice jigged micarta would be nice, but I'm also fine with jigged bone (Or some neat patterned bone) or even wood.

A med. Trapper would be nice or a slim Trapper (Longer, but because of its slimness, should carry well).

How about a Hawbaker Muskrat pattern, 3 7/8" closed with smooth bone scales and 1095 blades? Matchstrike nail nicks, round bolsters and a single backspring would be nice too.

I love the "wine and cheese" idea!
