Thanks to all who have come before us!
I, with mikeymoto and ea42, have taken on the task of organizing the Forum Knife for 2010. We will share the work as equally as possible, and we hope that we can put together your choices in a satisfactory manner.
We've all heard the story of the Camel being a Horse put together by a committee!
As endearing as this young lady is, I don't think she will pass as a horse. I'm sure her little one thinks she's beautiful!!
I am hoping we can come up with something that will pass as a knife, and in fact we indeed will think is beautiful!!
There will be some compromise on the parts of all of us, and we should consider some of the things we couldn't or didn't do before. If last year's knife was your dream knife, let some other choices come to the fore!
If you prefer something else, put it forward in a considerate manner. And I hope we will retain the wisdom we have been gaining each year. And remember, there will be more knives to come.
I've talked to three cutleries, GEC, Queen and Canal Street, and will post the handle patterns we can economically use, either as links, or actual pictures, but it's safe to say, we can opt for any of the ones in recent production from those three companies.
My preference would be to keep all costs under $100 so people don't get priced out of it; much less than $100 has proven to be impractical, for a specified knife.
We've done some smaller patterns in the past, maybe a bigger one is in the cards, but it's up to you to decide. I did find out that we can have a tang stamp made that says BLADEFORUMS in an arch over .COM !! - for you anti-etch people, and that stamp can be used for subsequent years!
Something to consider.
Enough rambling from me, let's hear from you! I look forward to working with you!! Let's hear your opinions!!
Respectfully submitted,
Charlie C.
