Hi all

I am getting a Sher GS, what can I expect (other than the usaul HI perfection). It's 30 ounces (greek to me) how much is that kilo's ??

Is this more weapon than toool or what - those who own one will be able to tell me what it's cababilities are. I'll put it through it's paces but I'd like to know what you guys think of this model !!

Brendan

Expect it to feel lighter than its actual weight. The fuller aids it significantly. I think you'll find it to be a great balance between tool and weapon, with it leaning more toward the weapon. Sher knows how to make 'em. My favorite khuk is my Sher chiruwa AK.

16 oz to a pound
2.2 pounds to a kilo

It's too early to do simple math. :(

0.85 kg or 850g

I think... something like that.

"You won't like it."??????????

Brendan, think weapon. The point of balance is much closer to the ricasso than on other khukuris -so even a 21", 30 oz. GS feels lively and lighter than it is. It's pointy too. Good for punching holes in things (taking the softer temper of the metal toward the point of the blade into consideration).

and add to Ad's input. the 21" GS aint no log splitter, it speaks weapon to me. I'd be leery of practicing without tapinng the blade edge or something, cause the one i have is reeeeel sharp. Also good for clearing grasses and shrubbery. Slicer/slasher instead of chopper.

Thanks for input guys,

My next largest size khuk is a WWII by Bura and that feels quite big - it's still got a beefiness to it though !!

By looking at the GS it looks like a pure weapon - those fulloers must be cool.

:)

are cool, perhaps not that deep (varies from maker to maker) but they are nice and wide. Also has a pretty acute tip on it, compared to the AK or YCS. I like it. I'd love to have a Chit to compare to it...

I have a 19" 25oz chit. I cut down a 8" pine with it. YOu are getting a weapon that will work. There are occasionally lighter versions offered here that are more weapon.

I don't think there is a rat's chance in hell you will dislike it.

Brendan, This model is like a what a machete or short sword should be like. It would definitely fit the weapon category real well but it is still more versatile than some of the other khuks. Can be used in the kitchen, garden, etc. Enjoy it. You'll like it.

Thanks All

If at all possible will you guys post pics of your GS's !!

I'd like to see the fullers and a few different khuks by different kamis !!

Thanks
Brendan
