Wow. I can't believe I waited so long to get one of these. Some Beckers just look better in the hand than in a picture. This is a GREAT knife!

First thing I did was check to see if it was roll-stamped, or laser etched. Luckily for me, it was roll stamped with the old coating. MUCH easier and better looking when stripping (and a lot easier that that truck-bed-liner stuff that was on my 16!).

It did, however, have a new stock sheath. Noticeably better made....still looks a lot like the old one. The tell-tale is that this one is molle-backed. Also has the weird velcro-backed retention snaps like the JAB sheath does. The rattle is Gawd-Awful. Going to pull it and try and tighten it up. This BK7 is going to a new Godspeed! home, but I have a Camillus BK7 coming that will get put in this new sheath, for now at least. Just got to do something to make that sucker tighter....

Can't wait to strip her tommorrow morning!!

I was hoping the new ones would have a molle sheath. I still prefer a good nylon sheath (Spec-ops) over kydex or leather for some reason. You will love the 7. The most versatile of the bunch in my opinion.

I like the look of the new sheaths. Of course, I like my Godspeed sheath way more, but the new one looks to be more versatile than what I got with my BK7.

Yep, its much better. Godspeed is working on mine now. I fixed the sheath rattle. Still goes in and out with little resistance, but theres juuuust enough tension I put in the middle so that it doesn't rattle in the sheath. Getting the liner out was a good deal harder than the tweener sheaths...mainly because black thread on black nylon is harder to see than black on tan.

Good to know about the MOLLE sheath. This one may be one to look at!

...I have a Camillus BK7 coming...

Hmmm, I just missed out on a Camillus BK7 up for auction yesterday. Know anything about that? :D I was hoping it was heading to a happy home where it'd be appreciated. Either way, nice addition!

What's your opinion on the knife compared to your favorite (the BK9?)?

Nothing is going to knock the BK9 out of it's favored spot. The King rulez all (or in the case of Becky, the Queen). BUT for a knife in the 7" range....type, size, strength, material, balance, capability, value...I don't see ANYTHING out there that can top the BK7. I can't wait to see it stripped, polished, handle wrapped, and sitting in a Godspeed Dangler with BK14 piggyback!

The only thing I can see that this isn't going to be great at is chopping. There are ways to get around that, if it was all you had, but it just isn't forward-heavy. I have yet to see a knife that does everything though. Becky and Woody Wood-Wrecker are there for the heavy lifting.

Wasn't me. I was offered it in trade right here on BF in exchange for my cliched BK16. Exactly THREE hours after purchasing one with next day shipping! What are the chances of THAT? A little sooner and I could have traded for the Camillus, and bought the BK4. Oh well. Two is one and one is none, right?

I've grown to like my stock sheath. I must have that new one with a MOLLE back. Looks great!

THAT is not a bk5.

Just kidding nice score. They are sweet. I was playing around with jarods while I had it and it is a very well balanced blade

:D This thread makes me happy! I love the 7 and don't feel she gets enough love. You're right about chopping though...it doesn't excel at it, but it'll get some light chopping done!

I can't wait to see the mods on it either. Mine is a Camillus and I haven't had the heart to modify it yet. I sold my Ka-Bar made 7 last year and haven't got around to picking up a new one yet!

I hope you enjoy it!

Maybe someone will trade a 5 for my Camillus 7? I'd do that.

Love my 7! I've only had it for a couple months but have done quite a bit of chopping with it.
It lacks the bit of my BK2, but it makes up for it in every other way.
Quickly becoming my favorite knife.
Just not as sheeple freindly. I can pass off my BK2 in public. But the 7 looks like a killer. As well it should!

Chris, if your gonna get a Godspeed sheath can I have the stock one?

You can have the Camillus stock one. The Camillus is going into the 2012 sheath when the Ka-Bar goes into the Godspeed. Free sheath, $63.00 shipping to Australia. Be there in about a month.

I'm half tempted to go out in the garage and dump the last of my Jasco on it, but the wife would be pissed. Have to wait till morning. Another day of watching Netflix while I stroke a knife with wet/dry....

Why do you have a cam sheath in the first place? I dont think shipping will be that expensive and I'll cover it if its reasonable (if not, forget I asked about all this)...
