top -- 22 ounce BAS by Sher. Superglue fix crack in handle. Good beefy karda and chakma. Excellent scabbard with mil style frog by village sarki in new leather. Yours for half price -- $50.

center -- Nice 15 inch 25 ounce AK by Kumar. Can't find anything wrong with this rig but Yangdu says it's a blem so it must be. Maybe you can find out why she calls it a blem when you get it. Entire rig looks okay to me. But Yangdu says it's half price so take it home for $62.50

bottom -- Quick 15 inch 20 ounce AK by Sanu. It's a 10/10 effort by Sanu. Minor rust on big blade, karda and chakma. I figure 30 minute cleanup but it saves you $62.50 so puts your cleanup rate at $125 per hour which is not bad. Delivered to your door for half price, $62.50

Call or email to save yourself a bunch.

Hard to say, Munk. Handles sometimes crack after the knives have been in high dry Reno for awhile.

Top is BAS. Center is AK.

The price. :D

The AK has a fuller and the BAS has some brass inlay. Not a lot of difference. I like that pointy BAS though. Was gonna e-mail when I looked inside my wallet :(

Someone take the AK please:( I must resist the urge to buy another,my wallet is already quite angry with me :p

Seems like I remember a recent post explaining that you were new to the forum and Khukuri. Welcome to the Cantina!

A relatively newcomer, myself, let me see if I can help.

BAS British Army Service Model. Like the Gorka's carry in the British Army but built better than the issued service model.

AK Ang Khola A real strong chopper, not a martial arts weapon.

Looking at the pictures on my monitor screen, darn if they don't look the same, karda and chakma (small utility knife and steeling tool) appear to be different between the two, but the Khukuris look the same.

The BAS is normally 15 inches over all length, where the AK comes in several different oal's. The written description in this case, looks like one is about 3 oz heavier than the other. Both have horn handles, I think, without going back to check and losing this long post.

Go to the main HI website for a better description of the styles by name and the FAQ which has mucho information.

Good luck in your selection.

Remember that they are all hand made. Different models can be close, depending on the maker. There is even a lot of variation in the same models by the same maker. No two are exactly alike and that is part of the charm for many of us.

AHHHHHHHH! To have the experience calibrated eye. Bruise, do you know a good PML in NM? precision measurement lab.
Hey, how about if I get a electronic eye implant, calibrated, of course, for Khukuris. :D

Thanks to all for the explanations....finally take the AK, hope made the right decision.

Now, this is Off Topic and have nothing to see with knives, but if someone would like to receive postcards from Spain, only ask (and send and address, obviously)....

For chopping stuff, you can't go wrong by selecting a heavier blade. I like poking holes in things so I like pointy khuks. Either way, I think you'll be happy with your selection.

As for calibrating one's eyes, you have to watch a lot of TV. :) E-mail me for my eye sharpening, brain numbing TV watching training program. Only 49.99 (about the same price as that BAS :D )

Bill, my feet crack too in the high dry west of Montana. Ditto for Wyoming and Idaho when I lived there. I think maybe I'm a blem too.

munk

The cracks in the feet are probably just a couple of grainlines that won't go anywhere

munk GTM :D

Trouble is, the cracks may not go anywhere, but then, either do I. ( as long as they're around.)

Yeah, I'm a blem, but I ended up in the right home.

Good choice with the horn handled AK. I have an 18" Horn handled AK made by Sher. I use it to cut all kinds of things, nay, Todo el Mundo!

Bienvenido a la Cantina.
