I'm finally going to purchase a zt0301 tomorrow. I've seen different variations of stripes on the blades (some light, hazy-gray and some thick saturated) aslo different patterns. Could anyone with some knowledge on this knife and the stripe variations tell me if when you purchase this knife you just have to hope you get whatever stripes you prefer or you get stuck with one's you don't care for as much? I know it seems picky, but it's a lot of $$$ for me to spend. Is there a way to choose the 0301 with the stripes that you want? Are there different sub-models. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sort of new to forums in general so I apologize if I'm posting this wrong.

There is not a way to choose the darkness of the stripes.

Welcome to the forum. Please don't post the same question multiple times. I answered you question in the Kershaw forum.

I'm a big ZT fan and collector and I've not seen any way to or differences in the tiger stripes. As for Sub models there are none that I know of apart from the ZT 0300 that has the all black blade and the best looking one IMO. The only differnece is the 301 is Green G-10, the 302 is Tan G-10 the 303 is Black, and the 300 is black with a black blade no tiger stripes. The 301's are the most common of the knives and I think the 303's are the mroe rare options I could be wrong. I wish they made a non coated version of the ZT 300's I can only hope. Any way you will be buying a best of a knife.

I was thinking there probably wouldn't be. I figured I buy it from the place that had the best pics, but I know how that goes. Thanks for your response. Either way I have to buy it. Thanks for sending the thread below with more info.

Check out the google images of the 301. I've been searching through images of the 300 -303 and have seen a lot of different variations of the stripes. Maybe they are modified. All are great, but some are just awesome. I have a black 350 otherwise I probably would have gotten the 300 as well. I'm pumped. I would agree that it is one of the best in my opinion and price range. Can't afford to many custom jobs. Thanks for your response.

Could someone tell me how wide (not thick) the blade is for the zt300 series at the widest point? Also, how wide the handle (widest area)? I know it's ergonomic, but I'm trying to figure out the size for my hand. Besides size, any personal preferences on which 300-303 from someone who owns more than one would be of interest as well. It's getting close to purchase time..Thanks.

To answer your question, it probably has to do with the camera and the skills of those using said camera. Different cameras make things look different. Like say my dad took a picture of my Spyderco Chokwe with one of his expensive professional type cameras and as a photographer and I took one with my little cheap camera, there is going to be a difference in how the knife looks in the pictures.

If there is a difference in the stripes(as there may be as every knife(same model or not) is different) then it would likely not be noticeable. In other words if I had a ZT 0301 and you had one and we sat them side by side, we wouldn't see the difference, if there was one. From my personal experience, no two knives are going to be exactly the same.

Also pictures are different than in person, you just can't see in a picture what you can witness and behold in person.

There aren't any separate patterns of the tiger stripes. You'll be fine purchasing the 0301 I'm sure. It's an excellent knife.

Just happened to have my ZT 301 and a set of calipers beside the computer so to answer your questions. The blade is slightly less than 1.5" at its widest point and the handle is essentially the same at about 1.5" at its widest point. I went with the 301 just because I preferred the ranger green handle. The knife is great and locks up with authority.

I got the 301 because I found a great deal on it, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten stripes. Now that I have them, I think I might like them better than stonewash. I never noticed a difference in the stripe pattern, but I haven't looked hard. I will say that the pattern seems so regular on mine that I find it hard to believe there would be random variations. If that makes any sense.
