I am excited to announce that I have finalized the details of the 3rd Big Sky Country Hammer-In that Jodi and I host in conjunction with the ABS.

Tim Hancock, Harvey Dean, and Larry Fuegen are coming to instruct. I would love for you to come and take in a beautiful summer weekend in Montana while learning from the best.

I would like the collectors out there to consider coming as well. Take this opportunity to get to know not only these three top makers but numerous other master smiths and journeyman smith makers.

Collector Keith Montgomery is coming as well to give a talk about the positive impact of forums on the knife world.

Below I will post some details of the hammer-in. For more info like hotels and such please visit my website. Please email me or give me a call with any questions. Thanks,

Josh Smith

Josh, it would be wonderful if you could have some quality pictures
of Tim Hancock in action during a demonstration taken with a good digital
camera. I could use one or two in the book I plan to make about him
next year. The book will be "The Knife Art of the Western Bladsmith",
and for its so appropriate name I have to thank STeven Garsson.....

Wish I could be there to do some proper photographic documentation......

Thanks and all the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hi Dr. Darom,

I know a good photographer who might be able to help. Sounds like I ought to reserve my plane fare soon. :)

That said, I am planning on attending.

Edit: Yup, I just talked to Josh. We'll have a busy weekend! :)

Terrific line up of demonstrators Josh. I plan to attend again. Can we set up floating targets in your pond this time? :)

David, between Coop and everyone else you'll have more pictures of Tim than you'd care to!!

Coop, it'll be great having you here.

Bruce, you bring 'em, we'll blast 'em.

Thanks, guys!

Since the meeting will be in June 2008, we still have enough time to discuss
the required photography. It will also be some time after finishing all the
photography at Tim's place (in May), documenting him create the Damascus
and then go on to complete one of his classic knives......

Coop, I am delighted that you will be there. We shall talk before that
about how and what is needed.

Thanks again!

That sure sounds exciting. From what i've seen of Josh and his work on the internet, i'm sure it will be an outstanding event. I am also familiar with the work of Tim Hancock, Harvey Dean, and Larry Fuegen. Wish I didn't live so far from Montana!

I currently own (3) of Mr. Darom's books. Looks like another will be needed soon.
