Just finished this one after being out of the shop with a nasty sinus infection.

Forged 5160

Sheoak Burl Handle
OAL - 15"
Blade Tip to Guard - 9 3/4"

Thanks for looking............... Robert

Looks very good, but I might prefer it without the two stage dropped edge. The tooling gives the sheath a nicely finished look.

Very nice bowie. Where should the balancing point be on a large blade with a partial tang such as that? I find my partial tang bowies a little blade heavy due to the lack of metal in the back. Is that normal? Beautiful work on the sheath.
Randy.

Randy,

I have found that any time you make a blade of that length, it is very hard to have the balance point "at-or-around" guard. Most of the time, the balance point is just in front of the guard.

I don't know if there is a magic answer for "balance point", however, I am sure it has been discussed sometime, and somewhere on this forum.

Thanks Les. It actually looks better than the photo. I'm still working on trying to get along with digital cameras.

I hate that we weren't able to get back together before you returned to Texas, but with me being sick as a dog along with a few family problems, it just didin't happen.

Hope to see you again soon,

Robert

It's all good, I'll probably see you at Blade next year if nothing else. Be sure to bring something cool to show! :D
