Actually I am trying to learn how to get a photo in a post so I thought I would start with what I personally consider my best knife.

Jerry Fisk 8 1/2" Bowie in his "SOUTHERN" style. Initials you see in front of the hilt are M.S. Stands for Master Smith with the ABS. Sambar stag with browned hilt and ferrule. Flat ground, hand forged 1084, top edge sharpened. Kenny Rowe period sheath.

Great Bowie you have there. Pics posted fine. The more I look at forged blades the more I want to purchase one myself.

Ouch! Man, you just stabbed me through the very heart of my soul, truedge!

I've been wanting a Fisk knife for some time. But now I NEED one. Bad...

Darn it all, truedge. Be kind to us forlorn and forsaken, destitute and wretched sufferers. Don't tempt us with well-tempered edges, and simple perfection of line, form, and function. Just kill us quickly and call it Mercy.

Paracelsus,

I understand and appreciate your sentiments.
I thought knife lust was just a mild aberration of an otherwise fairly stable personality. Then this little fair beauty of a cutter came along and a whole new horizon opened up. As a friend of mine said, "kind of makes the third refinance of a 2nd mortgage sound not so unreasonable after all."

It looks heavy, but it's not. If you lay the blade sideways on your index finger with it just barely touching the hilt, it's balanced. You ought to see the grind lines in person--it's really kind of emotional.

I'll put the damascus dagger up next week after you have had a chance to recuperate.

Admiration of the knife goes to Jerry of course. I just got lucky enough to own it for awhile.

Truedge...

That is one gorgeous bowie! I was just drooling over a similar piece that Les Robertson has on his site.

I don't see any pins in the handle like in some other Fisk bowies- do you know how the tang is secured to the stag handle in yours?

Have you performed any cutting tests with it? If so, how did it do?

Thanks for the info and thanks for posting pics of this work of art

TE,
All I can say is thanks for posting that beautiful knife and that by doing what you have done, my wait is going to seem a lot longer

. I guess I can make it though.

Gaucho,
Thanks for the post. Les has that Bowie in picture only thanks to the miracles of Visa and Fed Ex.

How is the handle attached?--real well I
hope!!!

No cutting tests, matter of fact I think that I will take Jerry's word for it's performance since he does a lot of that to each knife he makes before it ever goes out the door. For me, I'll just look at it. A shame isn't it.

Ahhh, I understand! I thought that it looked mighty familiar. So, you beat me to the punch, you lucky dog. Excellent choice! I am green with envy.

Enjoy it.

I thought I would have this one for a long time. However, another Fisk has appeared on the horizon that I want more so this great Bowie must move on to another appreciative owner. It is currently on ebay if anyone cares to look and maybe even bid

You know I have given dealers grief and I want to spread it to the rest of us.

This forum is not the place for individuals or dealers to directly promote the knives they are selling.

Fisk bowies are always distinctive.

Say, do you have a picture of the spine? I've always wondered how thick these knives are and how much distal taper they have. Do you have those measurements? Thanks.
