A Buck Service question.

Last year I purchased two large Buck Vantage Pros at Bass Pro Shops and really like the knife. In short order I bent the pocket clip by getting it hung up on a chair. My fault, no question. I tried to straighten out the clip but it snapped. So, I haven't been carrying it since then. I emailed Buck customer service and was told that it would cost me $5.00 for a new clip. I'm assuming I would need to pay shipping, too.

I just happened to be in Bass Pro Shop today and stopped by their knife shop to see if they had any clips that I could purchase instead having one shipped to me. The knife shop manager told me to just get a hold of Buck and they would send me one at no charge. I said that that wasn't the case and told him about my emails. He said that he was sad to hear that because he loves Buck knives and always tells people about their service being great and that they replace little parts like that at no charge.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying the $5.00 for a clip that broke. I was just wondering if Bucks policy has changed. I have never had to get a part for a knife from any company, so, I was kind of surprised to hear that many companies do send out a lot of small parts at no charge.

Might want to check that the $5 was'nt for shipping the clip to you. I would think that if the clip broke, even if you were trying to bend it back, Buck would replace it under warrenty.

That may be. Shipping wasn't specifically stated in the email, but that is sure a possibility.
