I was at a local gun show this morning and saw a Q with the cutout letters "HK". What does that stand for and how many different Q cutouts did Spyderco make?

Is there a black clip available for the Wegner C48?

Thanks, Dan

I am not sure how many Q variations there are but the HK was a run for Heckler & Koch, manufacturer of great firearms.

There' s the PRCA for the pro Rodeo Association and one with the American flag. There is also one, although rare from what I understand, with a solid blade. Actually, a desired pattern can be made for most any company/ organization thru Spyderco.

There were two different 'Q's made for Blade magazine, The H&K as mentioned, Eastern Mountain Sports (A sporting goods retailer), Recreational Equipment Incorporated, (R.E.I.-another sporting goods retailer, and Cairns and Brother. (A firefighting equipment company.) Any others out there floating around that I simply have to have?!?!?!?! Wasn't there one made for AKTI also? Very cool if I remember correctly...

There have been more than 50 "Q" variations produced thus far. Some very intitrcate; birds, deer, ethic masks, etc.

Sal-

At the risk of opening a can of worms, is there any info on how to get these variations? I realize many of the Q variations are corporate or other promotional items. Just the same, I find many of them very intricate and interesting. (I've seen quite a few that I haven't been able to find out how to get my hands on!)

Fozzy-
I have a couple versions of the "Q" in stock that you might not have seen. These were made especially for Ironstone here in Hawaii.

SP C35SBK or PBK "Kona ' 98"
This one has a Marlin lazer cut out of the blade with "Kona '98" etched on it.

SP C35SBK or PBK "Kona '99"
This one has a volcano lazer cut out of the blade with "Kona'99" etched on it.

I also have a Tropical version. This one has a palm tree lazer cut out of the blade....nbo etching.

Contact me if interested.

Ben - sorry. No way that I can guess. they went all over the world. The companies that we made them for were very clear about no pieces going anywhere else. It is the only model that didn't even go to collectors...causing some tension.

That's what I would have guessed Sal. Cairns sold me one with no problem. Thanks to Patti at Ironstone in Hawaii I'll hopefully have a few more for the collection. The reason I have a particular interest in the laser-cut designs is that my Dad did a lot of work on some of the earliest lasers. They were about the size of a city bus. My how things change. Ain't technology great?!?!
