I love coming home to surprises (at least when it comes to knives).

Bailey Bradshaw has been a very busy person over the last year. In addition to getting Whitewing Knives up and running, he just passed his Master Smith performance test this weekend (Congratulations Bailey) (all that is left is the judging of his 5 knives).
Some time in the middle of all this he took time out to make this one.

The blade is 52100, the spatchula is 440C. Both blades have 1/2 stops. Action is smooth as silk with pleanty of walk and talk to opened, closed and 1/2 stop postions. Fit and finish are top notch. Now where is that can of Renn-Wax

Gus that looks great!

Is the butt a solid piece?

(gee that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean)

That is a nice one Gus. I cannot wait to get mine after the Blade show. It is one of the 5 you mentioned that are being submitted. It will be a large cigar pattern whittler. The shape is modled after a case 94 pattern. This one will have damascus blades, blue mastadon Ivory, gold inlaid engraved bolsters and shield. It should be pretty awesome. For all of you that are interested, there will be a good knife show to attend in Austin TX on August 3,4,5. To see a list of dealers and makers that are sighned up check out my web site.

Gary,
It is pretty much a traditional pattern so the rear bolster surrounds the liners and springs. It took me a while since the fit is so good I thought the bolster was integral with the outside liners, but I was able to see the joints, but you have too look very hard. On many doctors patters without "caps" the springs extend to the top of the boster (taking a 90 degree cut from the back of the knife.)

Chris, I have a feeling that one of the highlights of this show will be getting to see all five of the knives Bailey is submitting to the Judges. I hear his dagger is pretty awesome too. Can not wait to see your whittler! 94's and 91's are some of my favorites and Bailey's version will be awesome. Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!

Bailey is definitely top notch. In Vegas he had a short sword (actually more like a European hunting knife) on his table that I felt was one of the nicest knives in the show (Ivory handle-damascus blade- with a FAR out grind!) I am very impressed with his talent.

Gus,
Is it Dr. Kalanzis now?? As a fan of the classics, that one is NICE!!! I LIKE it

I am still kicking myself for having to sell my BB lockback folder.

Very nice knife, Gus.

That is a wonderful knife, a real beauty. It has great lines, and I love the handle.

Thanks for showing it to us Gus.

Hey Neil,

If you ever get into making any traditional patters put me in line. I got a bunch of old ones (loaned out right now) that might be good to study (just don't take them apart

.
I have a bad weakness for doctor's knives and any type of split backsping pattern.
(As well as daggers, bowies, swords and folders.)

Get back in the shop!
(self serving order, but I might be getting some grief from the "Floridia Contingent" in a couple of weeks
