Was just sitting here at work, (finally got a moment to myself) and was just daydreaming about what my perfect 110 would look like and thought I'd toss this our there. Not very traditional I grant you but picture this:

Drop point S30v blade, no nail nick.
Black G-10 scales.
Brushed stainless steel bolsters.
Stainless steel internals.
Thumbs studs.

Comes with a half length kydex sheath.

Interesting or should I just quit taking a break and get back to work?:D

Get to work, you slacker!!!!!!! (I'm retired, I can talk.)

:D

I'd go with a different steel, of course. I do use the powder steels sometimes, but if I gets my druthers, no.

Maybe D2 or BG42 or 440C or something real similar.

Clip-point.

A dream knife, for me, must have IVORY scales (just slightly mellowed and yellowed) and be finger-grooved.

The rest of your knife would work for me.

Hm, sounds to me like you're asking for a 486 blade without thumbstuds in S30V in a custom 110 chassis.

I like the sound of it. A LOT. It really sounds like a modern rendition of the 110. Very cool =P

I'm in--just the thought of a drop point 110 gets me up and going--I'm with BG on the steel- maybe jigged Buffalo horn--or a really good Rams horn.
I just received a NIB 110---BG-42 Stag--F/G made at Buck custom shop--Haven't had a good night's sleep since opened it up. LOL

Hmm.. not S35VN? (Mind, I'm perfectly happy with my BassPro 110 in CPM 154. But a guy's gotta dream.)

I'm still after a carbon steel/carbon alloy steel 110. Yes, I'm satisfied with my Bass pro CPM 154 0r BG42 custom knives but I'd still love a 1095 blade at about rc 56-57, finger groves, NS bolsters with a nice wood.

I also thought about 1095 as well as ATS-34 as I like both of those quite a bit.

My standard 110 is my go to knife for everything. Even made a kydex holster for it. Would love a higher spec steel in a new one though....but the 420 seems ok for real life duties.

Ive had this same thought process, especially changing the blade to a drop point, throw in a pocket clip too. The problem is what you are left with isnt a 110 any more. Change it to a liner lock and you have a Paradigm or a Vantage Pro. Its kind of like wishing for a Ferrari, that can go off-road, seats 5, has a cargo box on the back and can tow a 6000lb trailer. For now I just bought a vantage pro to make myself feel better.

This is a good thread!

I still dont know exactly what my dream 110 would be but alot of the above ideas are great.
Being a young buck, I like more mondern renditions of the 110. I love to collect the old ones, but 7.6 ounces is more suited for belt carry.
I think mine would be something like this: .100 Titanium liners with Carbon Fiber scales, venting, clip and stud. I guess it would have to have the "best" 110 blade made in BG-42. A kydex sheath for storage would be cool.

I'm a younger guy to Buck knives, but I'm 100% into classic.
My Dream 110 : I find nothing wrong with bucks 420HC blades, so I would stick with a satin finished clip blade in 420HC.
Nickel silver bolsters, and rivets are a must for me. Stag, I nice pair of popcorn elk with lots of character, or Sambar stag. I love the way stag mellows over time, and I know that after getting bloody a few times a year, it get a beautiful orange/yellow hue.
That and a tan leather sheath, I think that would be the "one" hunting companion I would ever need..... but at a little over $$$$200. I'll wait for a better job first.

Yes......we must beware of making a "Dream 110" into something that isn't a 110.

It's already the perfect folding knife. The only changes needed are in dream steels and dream inlays and maybe a little engraving on your favorite bolster material.

Liner lock? Isn't that a bit of a contradiction in terms?

;)

Easy enough to buy another kind of knife if you want another kind of knife.

Then again......you might like one in BG-42. Maybe one day we'll work out a trade for that .22 Hornet.

:D

That's enough to make a grown man cry, or at least drool.

Maybe drool and weep at the same time.

:D

Those are still intact, except for one of the 112's that escaped.

I was just wondering what the net value on those might be.

My original intent was to come up with a dream 110 using materials that Buck has or currently does deal with like the carbon fiber on the Mayo TNT, drop point S30v on the BCCI user last year, G-10 on the Buck/Striders, etc. My hope was maybe Joe or someone might say, "Hey, we could build some of those from parts on hand!" That being said, I like a lot of the ideas you all have tossed out here.

Actually now that I mention it my "dream 110" is kind of like a 110/Strider mix.

Oh, can anyone tell me if the 110 has ever been offered in ATS-34? (Never mind, the answer is yes, just forgot I knew it).
