Here are some of my targets and dedicated throwers. It's going to be a great summer! :D

Inside the house in the weapon room

and the Blowgun range

I am really excited to finally have my own house and a piece of property where I can get back into throwing, this is going to be a fantastic summer. BBQ ANYONE? :D

If you posted this impress me...

It worked! :D Very nice.

Wish I still had a "weapons room."

Thanks Watchful, I am happy to have one again finally. It was a tough call between making it a weapons room or the dedicated theater but it's not big enough for my theater so it became the weapons room.

Now the living room is the Theater room :D

Wish I had a theater room....

Nice atlatl. Tell me more about this one--who made it, what materials, etc.!

I made it. ;) from a piece of 1x2 scrap. The darts are just dowl rods from home depot and the tips I forged out of 1050 rod steel (also home depot) fleather fletching from HobbyLobby. Total cost - $15, enjoyment factor - pricless.

I actually had'nt seen one up close (just in movies) so I shaped it from memory (what I had seen) and new what it was supposed to do. It was'nt that difficult, I used only a hand saw, file and sandpaper to construct the whole thing (minus the anvil and hammer for the tips). :D

Oh and hemp twine for the lashings on the tip

Well, I'm thoroughly impressed. Nice work. ;)

What kind of range do you get with it? Have a friend time your flight time with a stopwatch sometime, from throw to impact.

Then take the range and divide by the total flight time... I bet you get some wicked velocities with it.

Thank you very much! :D I appreciate it.

I have had darts travel more than 50 meters. Not consistantly though, there are steps I can take to "tune" the darts. For example I could use a heavier tip and a thinner/longer shaft and that would give me a nice increase in range. I have'nt had time lately to mess with it though the shorter ones will only go about 20 meters or so. :( Not too bad for short range though.

About 3 seconds loft time for anything as far as 50 meters (depending on wind conditions)

That's an average of about 37 miles per hour... not bad!

Thanks Watchful! Boy this is a tough forum huh? It's like living in a vertual desert here (except for you) ;) there just does'nt seem to be much traffic in this section. Here's another pic my wife fealt like capturing, I thought it was kinda funny.

:D

That's a heck of a throwing platform... the roof!

So let me get this straight... you have a weapons room, a theater room... and a wife?? ;)

I thought the one eliminated the chance of the other two. :D

This throwing forum is actually quite well read and often attended... it just features more lurkers than posters, I'm afraid. But there's some great people who stop by here from time to time.

By the way, if no one's mentioned it yet, WELCOME.

Thank you very much for the "Welcome" :D

Yeah, I am a VERY, VERY lucky guy. Fortunately my hobbies were something that interested my wife. She decided a long time ago (after seeing kickboxer) that she would marry a guy that could do the splits in a chair. :D Of course she probably did'nt imagine that the guy would come with so much BAGGAGE! :D But really, she is a special woman and even contributed to some of my more expensive pocket knives (a pair of Tachyons ;) ) Should I post a pic of my motorcycle too?

I was reading some of the threads you have been involved in over at PracTac and other sections. Interesting stuff, you have made some very insightful posts and made a genuine effort to educate anyone who has the disire to learn. Kudos ;) And thanks for hanging out with me here in this section. I appreciate it. Hopefully this section will get a little more posting traffic with the summer close at hand.

BTW I sent you an e-mail.

Thanks for your kind words, but strictly not necessary. As I've said elsewhere, this is the biggest classroom I've ever been in.

(And the classes taught here are the coolest I've ever had!)

Just for fun! Actually it's kinda hard to throw with full gear while sitting on a bike but it sure is fun. TAILGATERS BEWARE  :D

it's my dream to have a weapon room. but i'm must buy a house for that, and that's not for today. great picture of the room with katana, nunchaku shuriken...

Thats just not fair .You have entirely too many toys and a nice house ! What kinda distance is that for the roof throw ? Have you considered targets towed behind a car ? L:O:L
