A good day for new gear

After reading the responses from the recent thread on "Watches That Can Survive The Field" I decided to look into purchasing a Casio G-Shock. I did my research and found the model I wanted. Its a dual display with a blue-gray band. Prices on the web were fair and I planned on saving my pennies for the purchase.

The family took a trip to Sam's Club today and I happened to pass by the watch and jewelry display. Imagine my surprise when I found the watch on my list right in front of me. I looked even better in person but I was certain I would have to pass on the purchase and hope they stayed in stock. The nice lady behind the counter advised me of the price and my jaw hit the floor, better than half off the best price on the net.

Without even a discussion my wife gave the purchase her blessing and now I have a bullet proof watch. I've really put it through the paces today. It held up to the rigors of an afternoon nap as well as a deadly trip to the grocery store without missing a second. Its good to know I've got the gear I need to keep up with my dangerous lifestyle.

Thanks to everyone who recommended the G-Shock. I think it will be a great piece of gear.

Afternoon nap?....Grocery store? Damn you're brutal on your equipment.:) I've been kicking around a G-Shock myself. You never know where a great deal will show up.

fracmeister,

Mine is the dual display model G100-1BV. I believe it is in the classic line. Sam's Club price $29.98. I think the best price I found online was $75.00 or so.

I was worried the watch would be too big at first but its just fine. Very light and the resin band is formed in a curve so there is no break in period. Good stuff.

My G-Shock rocks. I have the model DW003S.

It has the wire cage over the glass. Major protection.

I did have to hunt for this puppy though. All of the Baby models have them now, but they're harder to find on the full size ones.
