Hey guys. A while back Fred at KnifeOutlet told the newsgroup about a fellow by the name of Frank Recupero that had customized some production knives for him. So, I gave Frank a holler (email) and sent him a Spyderco Wegner Jr to fix up with stag scales and filework. Here is the finished product!

WOW!

What else can I say? That is a keeper.

Dale, that is gorgeous.

I was just thinking, maybe something like this is the answer our requests to manufacturers (like Spyderco) for different SKUs.

It would obviously be more expensive than a production model, but we would end up with the best of both worlds. A custom/production combo.

Yeah, its real purdy. A job like that will just about triple the cost of the knife ($135US). Best part was the turnaround time - 7 days! But if you all start sending him knives you're gonna wreck it for me!

I've got plenty of black handled knives here screaming for attention!

To me, that is the way that knife should have been done. Beautiful!

That looks like it fits the hand even better than the original.

Wanna hear a shriek from Arizona that'll be audible at least out to LA?

Send Frank a Mad Dog Wombat.

Radioman,

Did you just say that the scales and filework cost you around $135.00? That's right reasonable, for such marvelous work. I'm sitting here dreaming up the knife/handle material combination I would like. Congrats on the stunning Spyderco!

Outstanding!

I wish people would stop posting examples of Recupero's work - my wife is already telling me I spend too much money on knives!

Congrats on a beautiful piece of work, Radioman!

WOW, that does look nice! Love the stag and the file work, sounds like a very good price for the work done, plus it special for you, which adds to the value!

Have to dig through my dresser and see what I have that might need fixin'.

Very nice, so now the question is do you use it or put it on display....?

Too nice to destroy.

Raidoman-
I spoke with Frank lastnight via email
looks like I will have a AFCK with a face lift soon Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Dirk - yes, it is much more comfortable to grip than a standard flat G10 model

Jedi - yes, $135 did the whole job

William - its in my pocket now - where else? (pity about the clip though)

Way to go Steve45! I considered sending my AFCK, but it is real old and beat up (and a good bit shorter than it started off due to many sharpenings!). However, my Spyderco Renegade......

Actually, the next knife I'm going to have done is a Cold Steel Culloden.
