I seldom make large knives but I bought some water buffalo horn that had the "bark" attached and they just begged for a big-un. Do you other knife makers ever start with handle material and build a knife around it?

3/16 ATS34 heat treated to Rc 58-60 with a cryogenic quench by d'Holder.
Overall length:12 1/4 inches
Blade: 7 1/4 inches
Handle is buffalo horn with a nice mix of color and texture
Hand sewn leather sheath

$275 Sold to a good friend from Florida! plus $7 shipping to the lower US. Paypal, money order or check if you don't mind waiting for it to clear before I ship.

Please excuse my photos, my light box is so small I had a hard time avoiding reflections on this knife.

(Insert Aussie accent here) Now THAT's a Knife! ;-)

I especially like the pin patterns on the handle, good use of the horn!

Hard to believe that this knife is still here !

I need to pawn one of my kids ! :D

Geeze, I feel the exact same way!.:D

Very nice work Gerry..

Quality work like this needs a logo or emblem on the blade representing the builder. Hope you give it some thought.

oops, look again rnhood.... he has his name etched on the side of the blade :D

it is a very handsome knife too, I might add.

That's a good-looking bowie - nice lines and balance. What is the width of this blade? 3/16? Is it a fairly standard heft for a bowie or is it on the light / heavy side?

Hey "Big Cheese"
This is a hefty knife but balances at the guard for a nice feel. I was recently critized for not tapering the tang on more of my knives but I feel balance is important too. Also I try to keep embelishments to a minimum to keep my prices down. Yes it is 3/16 inch steel.

Still available. Here is another photo as you requested. I hope this one is a little less fuzzy I took outdoors on a cloudy day.

Man, I've been staring at this one for a long time. I wonder how many of the
"views" are mine...

Gerry, this is killing me.

For all those that believe Gerry's work is going to be collectible, I'd like to draw your attention to the opening words of the knife description, "I seldom make large knives but..." Gentlemen, this piece stands apart from most of Gerry's other work because of the handle and size. However, it still follows in the style that he has developed. Therefore, this is not an oddity, but a rarity. I haven't seen a more collectible piece with Gerry's name attached to it. So, would someone please buy it? I've got moving bills, and am not getting paid by my new employer until the end of next month. Save me!

I had the privelage of viewing this one last week while I was down helping install flooring and it is absolutely one-of-a-kind! The raw horn scales are uniquely gorgeous and give this knife an awesome character I've never seen before.

Yeah, he's my dad, but as has been said above, this one is "collectable" in red neon letters!

Very nice, I really like the horn scales, I don't like Brass, but that is just a personal issue. Steven

You guyz are right on the mark! Great comments about what a superb looking piece of Gerry's work this is. I would have snagged this one already if I didn't have so many others like it in my line-up.. Although, like some others here I find myself getting weaker and weaker by the day while trying to resist this fine looking sticker..
